Damit man, the kid in me yearns
Ever watched yu gi oh or pokemon, no? Well how about king of tennis or hajime no ippo? If you did, you probably watched the story of how they get better and better, practice and in the end go trough the lesser to meet the best; and love every moment of it.
I want that... but starcraft.
I want to follow some kid with friends yu gi oh style and work themselves up from local tournaments to the biggest league on the planet.
They travel countries and continents, meet friends and enemies in every episode. I want them to meet old veterans who shares wisdom and shit.
I want celebrity shizz like the main character sees a glimpse of MC, Nestea and MVP trough a crowd of hundreds and deeply inside wish he one day too would be on such a team.
I want a protagonist who defeats our hero early in the serie by cheesing him, while the main character is outwardly shamed, he says to himself deep inside that he will continue to macro.
I don´t want online, ladder and stuff like that, I want big fucking arenas in the middle of nowhere, who cares anyway it´s awesome.
I want tricksters and strategists who shares tips.
I want a nerdy little kid, a sage cinda guy and some ginger haired broad.
I want a damn animated starcraft story and would watch the shit out of it for a month, and then watch the abridged series til they run out

I've thought about this (watched all 100 episodes of Hajime no Ippo too, lol), and it'd be cool, though i'm not entirely sure it'd fit into an anime style series. Who knows.

So this would be more "meta" in the style of yu gi oh rather than "straight" in the style of pokemon. In this anime, starcraft is just a game, and the anime is about the people playing it?
There are some fanfic manga like that. There's one about NaDa and a mysterious progamer named X, but I don't know what happened to it ;_;

i cannot even begin to explain how awesome that would be. i would also watch the shit out of it. someone call blizz fast, get the Japanese on board quick! there needs to be.. this group of kids starting out with the top two meeting the others at a local LAN featuring a show match between MKP and MC to get the kids going crazy. The cocky probably terran player main character who on the outside thinks hes the best but on the inside strives to better his play the cocky guys nerd best friend who is all about the numbers and probable strats, who maybe plays zerg the second modest terran player who is in equal skill as the cocky one the protoss friend who is very distant and quiet and at times mean to the rest normally beats the cocky terran and is his rival the girl that tags along and discovers a great interest in the game and cheers the boys on while developing her own protoss skills and slowing develops feelings for the cocky terran

The cocky player should be Protoss and he wants to be just like MC but he thinks he's better than him too
should the anime use footage from the game itself, or its own art? I think using its own art would be ideal honestly, it'd be really cool.

How come you aren't mentioning Hikaru no Go? That is the anime that is the closest to how this would turn out, surprisingly good.
Perhaps the style of Saki or even Shion no Ou would suit.
They all have in common that they focus a lot on the person and special moves over the game, any series that does that well could be about the art of bread and be good (Yakitate!! Japan).

lol i can imagine the first episode already. 'What, you mean I can mine faster by creating more workers!?'. And getting dangerous vibes from that guy who walks past you in the hallway. There would also have to be the bully at school who beats everyone using his patented cannon-rush. and then forces them to quit playing SC for life if they lose. It would be too painful to watch as they'd have to explain the game and build it up slowly. Also not sure how they would show the games, showing real SC2 videos wouldn't mesh well with anime.

I would cream my pantsu if someone created a well made SC anime.
|
It could be so so epic. Sports anime+starcraft=win.

banelings explodes under the protagonist's army. nononono, can't be SCII until SCII has more legends and stuff. BW has actual old pros and stuff like the legend of the fall, and has been going for more than a decade.

isnt it prince of tennis?

I think you wouldn´t show starcraft 2 ingame, rather it being animated.
I prefer the Yu Gi Oh like one, the challenge is to make the ''ingame'' aspect interesting. But it is really the drama around it that matters, just like in pokemon - the battles aren´t really that exciting on their own, it is the tension around it.
How ingame would look (besides that it should be animated) I don´t really know. I think seeing them in the beginning at the computers but then you have this scene where it switches from outside of the computer to inside to show the seriousness of it. So you see the players ''inside the game'' standing on the sides and commanding with gestures and voices (Standard anime with people going HAVE A TASTE OF THIS: 2 PORT BANSHEE) Rather then having lame shots of them clicking on the computer and mouse.
