that said... IGN needs to step up their production efforts in making sure they keep to schedule. if the IPL finals drags on till past midnight on Sunday again... pretty sure its bigger than 40 players now because of the whole qualification scheduling fiasco

IPL should just revamp their entire format o.O

Definitely looking forward to another GSL World Championship, but I don't understand how they're going to have so many rounds of GSL in such a short amount of time. GSL is all about preparation, rather than stamina (like MLGs), and they should stay that way...

ok my thoughts on IPL5 format: 2 GSL Finalists IPL4 Winner - aLive 7 Regional Winners - Crank, MKP, Taeja, Polt, Sleep, Snute, Xigua = 10 players
These ten players are distributed across four groups of 4 each (six from open bracket TBA)
Satellite Qualifiers = 32 players currently GSL WC = 10 more players =42 players currently There will probably be more qualifiers = add, say, 22 more players =64 players.
These 64 players play a huge double elimination, top 6 qualify for groups. (sort of like MLG open brackets, but instead of buying player passes you need to qualify for spots)
=16 players, in 4x4 groups. If there are overlaps e.g. the GSLWC players are already qualified for OB, or the Regional Winners are GSL finalists as well, etc., just replace them with other OB players etc. (so seven players come from OB instead, etc)
Single elim after groups.
schedule the IPL5 finals -> GSLWC showmatch -> GSL4 finals.
If the GSL4 finalists were slated for the GSLWC showmatch, they can withdraw for prep. reason for the GSLWC showmatch in between is that if the GSL4 finalists were the same as the IPL5 finalists, they have a few hours to rest while the GSLWC goes one.
*shrug :p that's how i think it'd work!

maybe i didnt see it but how long will IPL 5 be?
if it's a week long then that would be cool
|
I'll be honest I am not a fan of GSL code s ro8- finals being played in 3 days (I imagine ro8 first day, semis next, finals last).
|
With the WC2 and GSL finals, IPL5 itself basically becomes irrelevant i feel.
|
With this kind of deal between IPL and GSL, I really hope IGN stop the crap and let SC2 be the main event, not like during the IPL TAC3 where you could clearly see the 1 team was on the LoL event. -_-
Not sure about having no preparation between the quarter, semi and finals tho.. it will probably make less interessing games...
|
Actually from what I heard, LoL stream had a lot of difficulties too.

Fionn stated on the first page it will be Ro8, one week, semi's week and a half finals.. he should probably add it to op so people aren't as confused

please don't do this... you can do ro8 only, or finals only. none of this bullshit

I guess the WCS schedule force them to shorten the GSL time to make the new yearly schedule fits with the remaining time. At least it should be only this GSL, so I would just take it as a change of pace once in awhile.

5 v 5 so lame! What's wrong with the old format with Coach Artosis!!!!!!!

world championship could be in a GSTL format ? all kill by stephano :p Stephano, Naniwa, Nerchio, Thorzain, Mana
|
Is there an invdividual tournament in the World championship too?? Like last time they did Korea v. World and then the 16 players were in an actual tournament if i remember correctly.

I think most of the players in the top 8 of GSL have probably prepared enough for each other... They play each other on ladder and practice with each other ALL the time. I understand that if they had a week to study their opponent it is going to make for a better timed out build, however even if they were to find out 5 minutes before the game they would still know each other's styles well enough to not get romped.. Come on guys, give them some credit. They will play well and there will be good games, and it will be fair for both players... They ARE the BEST players in the world after all.... Should be a fantastic weekend for SC though. IPL 4 was AMAZING. IPL 5 should be even better!!
