I don´t think he´s BM or a Balance Whiner. To me, he´s a hard working individual doing something he loves and trying to steadily improve. Sure, sometimes he has some moments where you can question his actions.(Like I.E.M. Kiev when he wanted to leave the tournament, the probe rush, his comment vs JohnnyRecco) but these things just happen because there are lot of emotions involved when you compete in huge and important tournaments. I don´t think all this hate/negativity is justified. He´s not a saint by any means but he´s not the only pro gamer who makes comments about balance or rages. I think there people in this community who are much worse then him regarding balance whining and BM.(Lalush, Idra, ...) I don't like Naniwa, because the first time I heard of him, it was because he was getting kicked out of ESL due to having too many bad mannered points or something like that. From what I understood, he earned those points through minor insults and forfeiting games without letting his opponent know.
If I remember correctly, a lot of the points were also given for forgetting to upload replays and/or report results within some arbitrary deadline. EPS rules about bookkeeping and regulations in general used to be on an almost KeSPA level of annoyingly strict.
Nobody's arguing that he has a perfectly clean history and that all of his image is completely made up. But it is exaggerated way out of proportion. Other than the Nestea/Probe rush thing and the recent TSL outburst (which as far as BM goes is pretty damn vanilla), I haven't even seen any example of this terrible behavior of his, yet so many people seem to be convinced he's doing some evil/bm shit on everyday basis.
It's fine to dislike a player. It's the bandwagoning without stopping to actually remember/consider/check the facts and put things in perspective that is problematic, because it directly affects (hurts) the player and his career.
At this point, both Naniwa's and Major's reputations are affected more by the community bandwagoning than anything negative they ever did in their careers, with things that they did do being exaggerated tenfold to reinforce the point.
While I'm not a fan of either of them as a player, it is so very rare these days that we have people (especially foreigners) that are as hard working, committed and passionate about the game as they are, and it's so frustrating to see them being shat on constantly even though they never did anything outrageously terrible and both seem like honest and decent guys overall.

Why are so many people fixed on his persona ? why not just focus on him being a really good player, bad mannered or not.. He delivers some of the best plays any pros out there.
And look at all the people saying he bms alot, you are the ones BMING about him bming .. meh

well, I am not a huge fan of NaniWa too, but he knows how to play this game, no doubt, one of the better Protoss players out there IMO. So I am interested to see where he wants to go now

I don t get this thread : / Just please try to be objective, you have to admit that he has done many unprofessionnal things such as his probe rush, BM in TSL4, leaving like 7 teams,...
Of course many haters are overreacting, because it's always the same when a drama occurs, dont take that too seriously but :
Please don't blindly pretend that he hasn't done anything wrong when he did, and sent a bad image of him, his team and esports, he doesn't disserve to be hanged but if you want to talk about this don't be extreme, it's always bad.
So my point is : Talin I like the way you write but you are obviously biased and can't really admit the truth even if I understand your fight with haters, you are using their weapons !

I really wish him the best. He is a great player and I hope he can become a force to be recon with outside of GSL too, like Stephano, that needs only GSL confirmation of skill.
GOGOGO NANIWA 2012!!!!

You know, the majority of people here aren't writing research papers, they're stating their opinion about Naniwa, and they're allowed to be as biased as they want in doing so.
They're not trying to analyze Naniwa as a person.

I dont really get your point, I shouldn't encourage people to focus on facts to be more objective because they just want to tell the 1st thing going through their head when thinking about naniwa ?
I think most of the people in TL are smart enough to make their own opinions without me helping them, I just felt like only the extreme opinions are developed here

i hate extreme fanboysm. it would be pretty cool to be Naniwa. You can behave like a total dick and theres still people
who defend you Thief thinks every man steals. I have a feeling you like Koreans/Asians quite a bit more than other races.

You're acting like their input is stupid or "wrong" just because they're not being objective. Encouraging non-biased writing is good, but that didn't seem to be the point you wanted across. If it was, then I apologize, but it seemed your first post was far too aggressive to offer any constructive criticism.
You can analyze Naniwa all you want, but considering the extreme minimal amount of information anyone on TL gets from him, no accurate results could ever be drawn. If they don't like Naniwa because of his personality, or his gameplay, or his sudden outbursts, then they can state that opinion without being forced to reason it. This is a forum, not a Social Studies class.
If a player can be loved, why not hated?

Will he be leaving Korea then?

While I appreciate the compliment about my writing, the purpose of my writing is for it to actually be read by others, and when I say read, I don't mean skimmed over to get a vague (and ultimately wrong) idea of what my points are.
For someone who claims to be objective, you're certainly saying a lot of things that suggest otherwise. He didn't leave 7 teams due to issues with professionalism, you're using the number that he's been on completely out of context - not really a trademark of objectivity.
Out of all these "many" unprofessional things he did, you bring up the same two cases that everyone else does, and then use those examples to attempt to make it seem like he does that kind of thing regularly.
For the sake of objectivity which we both value, let's remind people that the first incident was a very controversial case not only because of what he did (which I agree was unprofessional), but also because of the situation he was put in by a flawed tournament format. The second incident was a petty ingame outburst that is only remembered because it was broadcasted a few days ago. There were 8 MONTHS in between these two individual incidents. The only other incident I've heard about in this thread was the EPS thing which was 2 years ago, and the WC3 stuff from even longer ago.
If you can find even 1 BM outburst per month during this period, then you'll barely have some ground to claim that his image is justified. Even then, I can name several well-standing, popular players with a (much) worse record.

The new team should add a clause, if Nani breaks the contract he has to pay X% of his salary back.

And please continue to make it sound like NaNiwa is bm every single day.

Naniwa is kind of a douchebag, but good player nevertheless.

Therefore you're bringin drama into a place it wasn't called for, so you're a drama queen.
