Please, if you are not staff, don't answer questions in this thread, even if you think you know the answer. Also, please take complains about bans, question about TL as a site, etc to the Website Feedback Forum. |

I only did balance stuff (oops, sorry, I did it before I read your post), arguing about unit design I didn't, cause I'm doing that too! Works for me ^_^

Most of you are volunteer, as I understand. Why do you spend hours on end filtering silly teenagers with obscenities and senseless posts (at least the majority you close and/or ban)? What satisfaction do you get out of it? Some of you have over 10k posts and that is a lot of time devoted to one cause. Explaination please. Also, if you don't make money off of this, what is your actual profession? Couldn't this time be better spent in a soup kitchen?
PS. By the way every moderator I have messaged has been very articulate and courteous regardless of our varying viewpoints, which I appreciate. They take the time to respond to each persons inquiry.

Your hero. Can be Starcraft or non Starcraft related :D

What are the rules with double-posting in the blogs section? Specifically, I'm writing a diary series on the blog section, and I'll respond to comments made. If I've responded recently to a comment, then add a significant new entry, I'm not violating the doubleposting rules correct? (Pretty darn sure I'm not, I just like to have it in writing that what I'm doing is OK)
Edit: is there a way to tell what the character count of a post is, and what's the limit? I'm afraid I'm going to hit the limit sooner rather than later....

Was there a difference for any of you between when you started playing StarCraft (1 or 2 doesn't matter) and when you really got sucked into the community? Personally, I sort of just played Starcraft 1 for fun and got into it more once 2 came out.

I first started playing Starcraft in 1999. I didn't realize there was a community until about 2002, when I first read about WCG 2002 and non-koreans flying to Korea to compete for lots of money. It took me until 2003 to start competing, and 2004 to find out about "StarcraftGamers.com" and then 2005 to learn about TeamLiquid.
I really got super into the community around 2007, and I forever to this day consider 2005 - 2007 the golden days of starcraft.

I had no idea that any starcraft community existed until sc2 came out, but I had been playing sc1 on and off since it came out, I just had no friends who shared my interest.

I'm really annoyed about the OP of DRG's fanclub, he's never on teamliquid anymore. I've been sending him PMs to no responses...so the fanclub never gets updated...how long should I wait before I start a coup?

And not everyone is always on TL like u and me
For my situation, I noticed that the creator of boxer's fan club, Fallout, last updated the fan club in July of 2011. So I PMed him and asked if I could take over. He said yes. But that was 11 months of not updating anything.

Yea... Almost everything in that fanclub right now is my work, all he has to do is update. His only other job is to update the fanlist...but that hasn't been touched for over 3 months... I'm just frustrated.

awesome I got permission!

how about you let me take the helm for a while as I improve this fanclub from the bottom up. I've spoken to a few staff members, they can do it with your consent.

I would like to ask the TL staff for a favor; I made a TL account on my main id a few years back, and it was banned after a few posts. I checked all of the posts and none of them had any citations saying user was warned or banned or anything. Nonetheless, I was just wondering if someone could please un-ban my old account. This was quite awhile back, sometime in 2007 I believe, and I'd like to use my original ID that I started playing RTS with. If someone would take a look and give it some consideration, I would really appreciate it.
A link to my first post so you can look at the account history: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=58672¤tpage=5#98

Thank you guys for your help in my violent uprising to steal the DRG fanclub!
Question for the TL gods.. On the top of your head, do you know any other crazy fans like me?
I can think of two, Kiett apparently only lives and breathes for Bisu. and the Poopi is in love with MKP ( can't blame him after meeting MKP last weekend)

I was there for the Starcraft and because I was so newb, I had nothing to say but read the strategy threads. (It felt like everyone were these crazy elite Starcraft players and therefore rather intimidating.) SC2 ?Beta? announcements- or SC2 announcements when they were revealing new units.... anyways around that time is when I finally signed up and eventually got sucked into the rest of TL.
|
Ooh interesting, I got sucked in earlier than that BUT a particularly fond TL memory was during the beta announcements--i.e. beta key giveaways. There were so many amazingly competitive contests and there was no hope for a lot of the unskilled, but I still thought TL was being awesome and that giving away keys was fantastic for everyone. So I just posted to wish everybody the best and said that, that even though I personally wouldn't ever have a chance at one, that I looked forward to seeing some of the work and that the contests were awesomesauce on coolbeans (paraphrasing). And you know what, I got a key!! Ah nostalgia~~
And happy birthday! You're probably getting a ton of well-wishes but another won't hurt Enjoy it, and have fun today!

I draw as a hobby. Does blogging and posting pictures about my ongoing work count as 'promotion' or advertising?
