One of my major goals has always been to break into the gaming industry somehow. Didn't matter if I went pro or whatever just somehow get into gaming. Basically hit 1650 on ladder, applied for the game analyst position, wrote some critical analysis and did lots of praying to I don't even know what.
The first thing that happens is I get a problem assessment exam. 120 questions rapid fire in 20 minutes. I felt I failed right there on the spot since I didn't even get to the last 8 or so questions. But next day, they offer a phone interview to my shock.
Phone interview happens and I feel I bomb it. A few questions I feel comfortable with but I had trouble with a few major questions that use about 1/3 of the time we talked. Nervous as hell for the next few days due to no response.
Next time I hear from them they actually want to bring me in for an on-site interview. At this point I am ecstatic since this is the furthest I've progressed in getting hired by Riot Games. I have about 3 days to get ready and basically tell my current employer that I need that day off. He's like, fucking go for it. I'm pretty stoked.
On-site interview goes very well overall. I feel calm and very confident. I know my shit at least I felt I portrayed it very well and managed to get along very well with the interviewers. 5 interviewers back-to-back 30 minutes each. Pretty epic since one of them loves Final Fantasy Tactics. The guy who phone interviewed me is also there. He's asks fucking tough questions again. Damn him, rofl: I want to be an interviewer someday. Overall feel good though, very relaxed the entire time. Coordinator tells me Riot will contact me in 1 week.
1 very very long week passes and I am waiting for the phone call after I get off work. Nothing. Le sigh. Can't be a good thing, maybe they found another candidate. 1 very very long weekend goes by. Can't even play LoL or Diablo 3 properly.
Tonight, get a call from some random area code, a 10 second message says that he's from Riot and to call him back. Retardedly nervous as I start the conversation. First sentence that he says is that Riot wants to offer me a position. Mind is blown. Hard to remember the rest. I think I kept repeating his sentences to make sure I wasn't hearing things wrong. But yeah I start 6/22 and it feels fucking great.
I think there is a Nutri-Grain commercial that goes along the lines of, "I feel great!" Can't remember though.
