watch out man, people in this thread will tell you to "grow up and get over it", i wouldn't say that in here if i were you

If there's anything to be learned from the orb drama, it's that messaging sponsors has a great effect.
+ Show Spoiler +Seriously, don't. If you have a problem with Destiny then go to his team manager.

Pretty much if you watch destiny his stream you are an idiot. Or you enjoy his gameplay and like the fact that he is NOT censored...

*sigh*
Destiny uses racist slurs the same way south park uses curse words. If someone pushing the envelope and saying taboo things hurts your delicate sensibilities, it's no excuse not to excersize some personal responsibility by using the block feature, or not giving a shit if you don't.

You do know this is Destiny right? Not only is this standard of him, but he has said in interviews that this is how he talks and who he is. Quantic knew what they were getting when they signed him on.

In my opinion racial slurs are nothing compared to Idra's bm towards his fans during showmatches. This is a pertinent quote that might spark some thought:

did you imagine playing yourself first?

The world is not required to conform to your personal rules about what people should and should not say.
There is an ignore feature for players, if you don't like what someone has to say, ignore them. If you don't like what someone says on their stream, don't watch it.
Stop worrying so much about what other people say, as much as you may want to you cannot and should not try to dictate it.

If he said the "nigger", he would be castrated and tbh..I didn't even know what "gook" meant..I had to google it ~.~

LOL like america is worse than other countries in regards to getting in someone's face

Mind blown! Lets all send angry letters to his sponsors..

In 1/100000 cases, of course you can. The persecution law prohibits such talk - as is true in most western contries as far as I know - but actually making a case of it would be very rare.

He shouldn't be a featured streamer when he constantly calls people 'niggers' and 'gooks'. On May 01 2012 22:25 skrjabin wrote: Another attempt at a liquid witch hunt. It can't be a 'witch hunt' when the person did what they are accused of. Read other peoples posts before making an argument against Destiny's defense. He also used witch hunt in a loose comparison. Why don't you try understanding what your reading before posting another idiotic post such as this. The one sided completely skewed attacks that people like you post on this forum make actual discussions impossible because you refuse to come up with something logically sound before posting. Learn to look at the words around the offensive ones before calling someone racist please. " I am going to eat a cracker" "Look at the white cracker kid" See. In the English language many words mean many different things. It isn't that hard to understand. He called people with Asian names 'gooks'. Pretty open and shut case in terms of context.
I am east Asian and do not find that offensive in anyway. This thread is absolutely ridiculous. Are we going to try and stomp someone out of the community if they call a white guy a cracker? There are all these absolutely entertaining and great people who make this community awesome and you look at one thing and decide "hes a racist.... burn him".

It's not that it's OK that Destiny called someone a slur, it's that it's not new. Everyone knows this is who Destiny is, and he does not deny it. There can be no "witchhunt" because no one is ignorant to the fact that this is who Destiny is and he is unapologetic to that fact.
Because of that, things are what they are. It doesn't make it OK, and it doesn't make it excusable. If you really want to try to affect change then, like some people have said, express it to Quantic and Quantic's sponsors. That's the only real way to make anything change from the status quo.
PS: The distinction between this and the Orb situation is that Orb was denying/covering up what was known about him. In any scandal the number one mistake is trying to cover things up. That's the number one way to make things worse. Destiny isn't covering anything up. This has been his MO forever and he defends it vigorously.

It seems to be what the majority of the people here want to see, kinda sad really.

Okej can say what i think i don't think destiny is a hardcore racist or even little raciest. Me personally i can joke around with the word nigger. Its very rare, and i only use it if its a black dude in a game or something. I don't use it against random people on internet to bm them. So thats evidence that i don't use the word as an insult word if you understand.
|
Seriously, it's his own stream. He isn't trying to be a community face, so no, it doesn't matter. You shouldn't be offended by words anyway. They're words. Sounds that people are uttering.
I don't care if who it is either. I don't think orb should have been berated anymore then Destiny will be. He's playing for his own enjoyment and to be an entertainer. It's what his fans like. I think people need to grow a little bit of thicker skin, personally.

In my opinion I dont' have issues with anyone saying any word they like over the net, saying it in person is something else in entirely, grow up

Racial slurs?
Woah, I never expected this. My thoughts exactly. There is a SotG he is on where he talks about it a lot with iNcontroL and them, don't remember exactly which episode (not exactly easy to go through those sometimes.) But the jist of what he said is that he never asked to be a community figure and never tries to be one. When you are on his stream, he wants to be himself (and says that is what people should expect.) To everyone his own. Defeature him from Teamliquid and ban him here, because behaviour like this shouldn't and isn't acceptable here. Can't remember who got defeatured for the n-word, but I guess everyone should be treated the same way. When Orb got banned and actually lost his job, there were people actually argueing if he actually is racist... which is just wrong in the first place, but now people in here white knight for Destiny because 'thats just how he is' and the OP should 'stop to cry' ? Seriously, double-standards. I hold no grudge against Destiny and I couldn't care less about racial slurs, because I don't think its the racial slur that he intends to do, but rather to insult the other person. He could easily say son of a bitch or sorts of that and it would also fit the purpose. I just don't think we should start to handle same situations differently, just because someone is more or less known for bm.
So much this. Well said and I entirely agree.
