- Ji-hoon 'During his (Flash's) rehabilitation, he got to Masters (in SC2) without even knowing what the new units did'
this is hilarious. just goes to show you A) how good flash's macro is and B) how ez sc2 is.
Master's league = top 2% = top 2000 or so.
I mean, I'm sure Flash is good, but it's not like getting Masters is some huge achievement. Just being in Masters doesn't even qualify you to enter the GSL qualifiers.
Except he could only play with one hand
He didn't even know what the units did by the time he got to masters.
This means he basically won every game all the way to masters, in the few days before he could move his arm well enough for BW.
He was presumably also Terran, so that's like diamond for a balanced race
Terran would be the hardest race to play with one hand, considering you cant a-move like you can with zerg and protoss

I suggest making a Tumblr or something, then posting the translation there, and posting the link to the Tumblr/blog/whatever in this thread.

It's an issue of a difference of standards. BW fans know that BW offers a higher quality level of entertainment and on-screen action and so SC2 looks comparatively pale and limp (and therefore inferior). SC2 fans on the other hand do not know (or want to know) about BW and the things they see happening in SC2 are things they think are the best things ever so it is ultimately a difference in standards and expectations between BW and SC2 fans. Thats really the source of the fighting between the two.
SC2 deathballs continue to be gay and none of the units are particularly interesting when compared to BW units. The only thing I'm looking forward to is how high TBLS and A-class BW players can get in SC2. If they end up destroying the current top SC2 fans, the idea that the BW players moving in right on top of them would be hilarious. If few or none of them are able to do well then that would suggest some erious issues with the competitiveness and skill cap of the game.

Only 3-4 hours to translate that monster?? Damn are you like a genius at this?? Something like that would take me at least 6 or 7 or even 8 when you think about what they are trying to convey.

In fact, it's pretty impossible - even if the current scene is forced into SC2, at the very least BW will have its foreign scene, which is currently enjoying quite some tournaments; and I'm convinced many Koreans will continue to organize at least top amateur level events.
This is very true. I sincerely doubt we'll stop seeing A+ level on ICCUP or better tournaments for a long time. Just not on TV for six figures. I think BW will kind of exist in this weird place, before getting to a new equilibrium of being bigger than, say, counter-strike, but smaller than LoL.
It'll be interesting to see, then, who in the BW scene loves BW and who loves the large salaries of BW. I kind of expect any TLBS who switch to SC2 to switch back to BW after they retire (because you don't get to the tippy-top like that without loving the game), while a few with less to lose will play outside of KeSPA in small-money tournaments, which'd be bigger than the ISLs we foreign fans can get.

The last hope is that BW top pros can somehow make SC2 fun.
Right before the LAST thread of this topic was closed, someone posted a Korean article on the switch mentioning that SC2 being less interesting to watch that BW was a problem for KeSPA to fix. That, honestly, was much more interesting to me than anything else that's come out of this rumor mill in months and months. I'm really curious to how KeSPA would make force SC2 to be better. 6m1hyg is showing promise, but also showing a lot of weird cheeses.
The entertainment is a small problem. in BW you had mine drags, reaver's scarabs, storms plagues, and all sorts of fun spells which made the game entertaining. While SC2 does have its baneling bombs for mine drag detonations, storms arent the same, the AI's has been refined such that there isnt really an element of randomness/luck involved which makes it exciting (scarabs), and while fungal has the same effect as plague...I dont know..it doesnt feel the same.
It seems that a 6m1hyg map leads to either a much improved game or a really wacky all-in. I think a properly designed one could go a long way. But I'm honestly really curious as to what KeSPA would try. HotS has a couple of really good units (Viper, especially the Oracle), along with some less-good ones. Blizzard is starting to listen to the competitive scene more, and KeSPA is in a unique position to make demands, because the Korean scene depends on them (and so, by extension, does the foreign scene). I don't think they'll get rid of MBS or anything like that, or use a mod like SC2BW to enforce BW mechanics on the SC2 units, but it'd be really interesting to see what the BW scene thinks is the one big issue with SC2 they can try to alleviate.

reddit is a virus.
Flash on the other hand is god.
On one hand, I don't want to see Flash switch over because Tastosis would fill their casts with Flash-worship jokes.

I'm actually surprised if it takes more than a week or two for any current top bw'ers to be at EU(/NA) gm level. They're just that much better, and game isn't different enough for them to need more time. Ofc beating current sc2 korean pros will take more time since then it'll be more about smaller decisions that need to be learned by massing more games.
Ya i have to agree with this, I think people are hyping this a little to much. Yes flash will be good, one of the best inn sc2. but getting inn to masters as one of the best RTS players inn the world through history it should not come as a surprise he will be among the 2% of the players just by pure mechanical skills. getting among the 0,1% will take longer.
Just look at Forgg(Fin) he was a good BW pro. He was so confident he said he would win Code S his first season in code S, we are now at the second season of his at gsl and he has again dropped down to code A, and is 1 lose from falling inn to code B. And he never advanced through the first round even. BW pros are not gods, they will be some of the best players no doubt, but lets not go overboard with hype.

Like Hyun! Sure, he wasn't S-class, but he was still an A-teamer, top 30 on KeSPA rankings the month he switched, and leaps and bounds better at BW than any SC2 players were at time of switch.
And it shows! Look at all the success he's had in SC2! Sure, he's a mere 0-3 in the GSL/GSTL, but if you look at TLPD and include all his games in minor tournaments, he's an astounding 1-11.
Okay, so it was only one win. But it was against Revival, who's a terrifying 86th in Korean SC2 ELO rank! And even his losses were against....Commitment (113th)....Xy (not ranked)...Shine (112th).....oh, Taeja's good! Hyun lost to Taeja!

This is a ridiculous post. Wow. BW elitism at it's worst. I started as an SC2 fan and got into watching BW once I discovered TL. For me it's a lot of nostalgia from middles school days when I'd play tons of SC1. I'd agree that BW is better for the spectators outside of graphics but that is purely an opinion.
