edit: if anyone can tell me how to embed a video that'd be great.
Turn it up!
+ Show Spoiler [Intro about me] +
Alright, so I've been around TL for a long time (read: <6 months of actually browsing; sup '02 users!) and been browsing this blog section thinking I could write something so cool and whatnot. Of course I don't really know what to write about that people could find interesting since for the most part people don't care about ladder experiences or my league or whatever.
Well, I'm going to make a blog series dedicated to actually really good music. I'm a professional musician and have been for 3 years, but I don't want to write about my own music just yet lol.
The above video is Victor Wooten and some unknown singer who sounds just like Stevie Wonder (if anyone knows the dude's name, please let me know). They're covering "Yesterday", but damn do they have a good feel together. And of course Victor's phrasing is just insane.
So why is this so good? Yeah you can mark down "soul" as something, but you can't really measure that. Victor laid down a fat groove on the loop pedal, and both him and the singer are riffing off it. The singer also has amazing pitch and actually hits the notes he wants to. You'd think this is a trait all pro singers would have, but if any of you have gone to a live show before, you know this isn't the case.
I'm personally just a huge fan of this genre of music. It's not just like "jazz", that's for sure. I guess it'd be classified as jazz/R&B, and damn does it feel good.
TLDR: I'm sharing music I like.
