No. You may wish you lived in a world with no transgender women, but if you want to pretend you live in that world, you need to cover your eyes, stick your fingers in your ears and shout "La,La,La!" This world has transgender women in it and at least one of them kicks ass at Starcraft.

I think he's saying that people shouldn't be talking about it because Scarlett's already said everything that needs to be said about it, and doesn't really want it to be a focus. We should care about her play, not what's in her pants.

That is a reason for people not to ask her about it, not a reason to not talk about it. His reaction followed you explaining Transgenerism 101 to the umpteenth google-impaired person to ask what it means. A much better situation would be if everyone educated themselves about the topic, instead of treating it like it is transgender peoples responsibility to explain it to them when they encounter them, but we don't live in that world either. We live in a world where people are wilfully ignornat of the issue, taught to be disgusted and offended by it, and poisined with misinformation. We can only solve those problems by talking about it.
Scarlett isn't going to tell us anything else, and she shouldn't. That will not stop people from asking. Your answer was spot on, if I had seen the question first, I would have said almost exactly the same thing, though probably would have thrown in an admonition for not Googling it. LOLspoon would have us not talk about it. I refuse. Pretending that the problems of oppressed minorities don't exist doesn't make them go away, it makes them worse. I don't care if thinking about them makes Lolspoon uncomfortable. His comfort is a product of his cis-privilege, he is not entitled to it.

scarlett is amazing
she could become the leader of other young talented gamer girls
and if signing up here is something i can do to help her get the notoriety to achieve this goal, then i shall be the best scarlett supporter! SIGN ME UP (and put me at the very top of this list)
keep your head cool, people are going crazy, but it'll fade out you'll hopefully sign up with a good team that will help you become a full PGM, stay focus on your goals, don't mind the haters, and be wise when choosing that team
also, when you have some time, i have a ring for you

Meh anyone else upset at the fact she gets all this attention due to her condition while there are better pro-gamers whos fanclubs are not even close to 1000 posts =/ and don't get all this attention.

Not only among girls, but she is also part of the younger gamers in general who are making their name within the scene. Gamers such as Illusion, Pokebunny etc. Granted she is the oldest of all of them but she still is a young outsider trying to make a name for herself.
With BW pros and amateur gamers coming in, 2012 will be a very interesting year.

It's mainly because she is an outsider who owned pros at IPL, not really because of her situation. At least that is why I am drawn to her. Underdogs are awesome. Everyone loves underdogs.

Meh anyone else upset at the fact her accomplishments get dismissed as tokenism despite the fact that she had the most impressive tournament of an amateur and would have a hugely active fanclub if she was a cis-man =/ minus all the transphobic bigots and passive aggressive jealousy.

We should not talk about transgenderism here, just about scarlett. Understand the purpose of a fan club! Edit: Talking about it isn't the way to fix it. Especially not when you are confirming the ideas of heteronormativity, as you are. The only way to accept transgenderism is to make it so that it isn't an issue worth talking about. When you start making a huge deal about the fact that this player is transgendered, you subscribe back into the notion of heteronormativity. You have to ignore the fact that she's transgendered, and just agree that she's good at starcraft and accept her into the lexicon of teh status quo

Read some of his posts in this thread, lolspoon's not at all transphobic, he went as far as repeatedly telling a troll to go fuck himself for making fun of Scarlett's condition. He just is sick of people continually asking stupid questions when everything has been explained a million times here and elsewhere.
As someone else said, this is a fanclub, not a place to discuss trans issues. I agree that it's an important thing to talk about, but somewhere else, not here.
