Uhhh man I must be dumb or something, I tried this on bnet and the pulldown menu for your race selection was greyed out and unselectable, so i HAD to play with terran. How the hell do you choose protoss or zerg??
Also, why not see who beats the map fastest with two players too?
Anyways, I did play this map with a friend of mine, and we were both terran. He kinda sucked so I had to tell him what to do all the time. I made a ring of bunkers and turrets shielded by depots and scv's on standy to repair. We exterminated the zerg presence on the sides, then moved down and eliminated two of the cerebrates. I was maxed out (200/200) and moving upwards when...we both dropped!! WTF GAY. Anyways, will try this again tomorrow.
Good, fun map.

Patriot, I dl'd your replay, but it seems to be corrupted. Is there something special to watch replays of UMS?? UMS replays are always corrupt to me....
I honestly cant understand your troubles. It's really easy to do this shit and it's extremly easy with protoss.. Protoss is the god of these maps just becouse carriers are that good and nexus aswell.
Below follows a guide on how i did it:
Start with a new command center at the bottom, will help you get many scvs fast. Build all your supplys as block at the top of your base and later on you add a few bunkers.. Get marine range fast.
Wait a little to get many scvs and minerals before take gases etc.. When they say "hydra incoming" you shouldn't care to much.. Just be ready to repair and get that range going and get many scvs so you mine as fast as possible and still have a few to repair all the time (but don't have idle scvs there to repair until you have strong economy)
I added double engering-bay for upgrades becouse I wanted armor for my scvs and weapon for my bunkers...Dont know if it's better to have 4 medics at your minerals and skip armor (no big deal)
Anyway you should just maybe double the bunker amount at the bottom and top and go for a factory instead of more bunkers. Go for 3 starports and two armory asap.. Get like 5 valks as soon as possible and grade them directly. You should be fine against that first gard rush now!
Now you just add up 6 bunkers or so at the bottom and top and block them of with supply and barracks (not to tightly blocked, maybe that¨s when they attack the supplys) Don't use siege tanks or at least I didnt..
Always repair alot now and keep building new supplys and stuff to block.. Max out the upgrades for air and for marines... Have at least 8 starports and produce battle cruisers..
When you have 150 energy and 200/200 you attack with the bc and valks... Sneak in from the side and dont waste any yamatoguns... You should only need to kill like 4 spores before you can sniper out his cerebrate with targeting+yamato gun.. Sacrifice all the valks.
During this battle you need to multi-task to repair and rebuild in bcs... After you have 200/200 you repeat 3 times.
I needed two fleets for two of the bases becouse the defense was so strong.. But yamatogun with two forces in a row was enough.. Key is fast effective defense with supply+barrack block..
The sides need like 2 bunkers and later on the battlecruisers to protect...
Protoss was really really simple.
Use your force of zealots and dragoons to protect your probes and to reinforce the cannons at the top and bottom. Fast new nexus at the bottom of the minerals..
Do the exact same strategy only that you need like 4 cannons at the top and 4 at the bottom..
Then you make a wall of forge and nexus that's almost completly tight.. Nexus where it's alot of pressure and forge where it's little lesser.. Cannons behind the tightly wall.
make a ring around your entire base to block with pylon, forge and gates, all your tech buildings nexus etc and a ring of cannons behind eventually.
Max out in 3-3-3 carriers (remember to start upgrades for shield asap)
Also, just like you did valks against first push, make corsairs with protoss

I just wnana see the repay, I can't put that much time into trying again myself, it's gonna be a longterm goal ><

Actually, one of my friends and I have dropped multiple times while playing this map and my own Jungle Struggle map as well... o_Oa. It just suddenly says "so and so was dropped from the game" with no drop screen, and we both remain logged on to BNet.

My reps worked for me on single player. I'm thinking the reason why patriot's rep don't work is either A) he played on slower game speed or B) he used a cheat code after a few minutes. No offense.

If you speed up UMS replays they also screw up.

Not always. TMM replays usually don't screw up.

Updated my terran score to 52 minutes. Lets see someone beat it on single and submit a rep (that works).
|
lol. who would cheat on something like this? and 52 minutes is really bad.
I dare you to observ me doing it any time.. just say when. I mean, who would post a replay of himself cheating? And why would I possible want it to be slower? lol.
Read how I did it and you will realize it's all about boxing in with a cute defense and kill with yamato gun.. no need for lower speed at all.
Ums replays often screws up.

btw.. post your replay of your amazing record
|
I did its in the first post, btw none of my reps are screwed up. Why don't you beat them again and post some reps? If you don't I have all the right in the world to say you didn't do it, its nothing personal.

I hope it doesn't bother anyone that im updating this read whenever i get a new record. C'mon people I want some competition.

I used to play this a lot when I was younger. I remember struggaling even with cheats (that is, when I didnt spam units with operation cwal).

I'll semi-offtopic a bit, as I do not dare bump the jungle struggle thread.
I've beaten it with a friend in 1.04.xx. Even though the last 10-15 mins was searching for a f-ing spore colony... We played zerg and terran. 12 hatch 14 hatch 15 hatch 16 pool ftw. Then we just massed hydras and mnm... We both suck so I guess you've done it a lot faster. Is there an official record?
|
I can't even get a good eco going. Im trying to do ti with terran and its very hard. You have to choose between an economy or units. Get the balance wrong and you'll either lose before round 50 or lose later on around round 100+. I gave up at round 111. I kept losing my wraths, defilers started plagueing everything, and 2 ultras attacked me from the north and south which I had 0 defence at.
You need a 3rd CC at the bottom Asap. Marine range and dmg upgrades. I got about 3 tanks at each side for ultras. However it was a bad idea becuase the bunkers + medic wall are enough to take down ultras and the tanks seem to do mroe damage to your own buildings than the zerg.

Just beat it with protoss and zerg in 25-27 minutes
