(THIS IS NOT A BALANCE/IMBA/QQ THREAD ABOUT RACES BEING BETTER/WORSE ETC. ALSO, PLEASE EXCUSE MY COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY COMMAS THAT YOU WILL FIND ^_^)
Alright, so here's the problem. A long long time ago, I could still remember how that music...oh wait. Nevermind. A long long time ago when I was living, breathing, and sleeping BW, my main race was Terran. I never liked Zerg and Protoss was fun to off race with (especially considering how great it was to play how you wanted on Bnet 1.0 -_-). So, obviously when I started to play Starcraft 2 during the beta, I played Terran. I played Terran all the way through launch and around the first couple months after it was out. I loved Terran lots and I believed I played pretty well. But, after awhile (and i REALLY can't explain why) I started to dislike them. For whatever reason I had way back in my brain, I just couldn't stand playing Terran. I didn't want to ladder anymore and I couldn't even practice in customs or anything. So alternatively, I decided to switch over to Zerg.
Now, from that point where I switched to Zerg until about a month ago, I consistantly played VERY well with zerg. However, it happened again and a month ago I switched over to Protoss. Now for whatever reason again I found Zerg to be boring and picked up on Protoss. I seriously loved protoss when I first switched over and I was having such a great time playing them. Here is where the dilemma reaches. Now that i've been practicing with Protoss and learning them and laddering with them etc. I've decided YET AGAIN that I want to go back to my original love, Terran. Again I can't decide what's driving me to do this however I feel like I have to.
The thing is (and I do not mean this as an imba/balance/QQ comment or anything) since the day I got into the beta, this is how i've stood on each race.
Terran-Easy to play and suits my playstyle very well. Can crush people consistantly on ladder and have very good play sense with them. I don't know why, but with MULES, and scans, I find doing certain builds just make playing them easy.
Zerg-Very fun for me to play with and i'm very good at the whole constantly moving around and aggression/scouting aspect of them. I don't find them easy to play as I do Terran but i've put the most practice into them (for sc2 atleast) and can probably play the best with them at the moment.
Protoss-The race I find the most interesting and fun to play but the race which i'm the worst with. I've been practicing with them lately but quite frankly I just feel like I need to go back to Terran.
So that's my dilemma basically. I keep race switching after I put practice into one race. I don't know why this keeps happening but it just does. So now, I will alas be going to Terran yet again and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, I will stick with them this time and main them forever...
I was wondering if anyone else has/had this problem before and how they dealt with it or what their story was.

Maybe playing random for a while will help. You will subconsciously hope for a race, and once you pick up on that you can just stick to it perhaps? Or just play random and stick with it, learn all the races since you say you're good with Z and T and find P interesting enough to play.

Then play Terran. Playing the other races will always make you realise things about the race you play, and now that you've played all 3, revisiting Terran probably makes the most sense. The cycle is complete!

Just race pick whatever you want to play before each game.
Then after a while, decide what you find to be the most fun.
A lot of people off race for fun, no need to stick with one race unless you are having some sort of goal like ... need to reach top 100 GM in the next 2 months or whatever.

I would say you should play random, that seems like it would keep you on your toes enough to stay enjoyable. I think random is the most fun personally just because I find that I never get bored, there are always so many options.

If you want to have fun, play what you feel is most fun.
If you want to improve the most, play random.

Play random! But only for one game. Random players inherently have to be worse in the mid and late games than players who are of the same skill level but play 1 race. But when you queue for that random right before the screen comes up you'll know what you're hoping for and that is what you should pick.

I agree.. growing up being black can be tough..

I think that's only true for really high level play. I'm only diamond so my view is skewed, but until yesterday my win-rate got much better the longer a game went. My long game losses are generally because my opponent did some crippling level of damage on one base and just didn't finish me off for whatever reason.

I understand the reasoning behind playing random for a bit or playing random until I secretly hope for one race to show up, but I do actually like the thinking behind this guy haha ^ What I think i'm going to do is start playing Terran again and see where it takes me. If everything starts to happen again and I feel like switching, THEN ill go play random. But for now, meh, who knows. Maybe the cycle is complete. Still love to hear other peoples thoughts and opinions about this! :D
