Happy Monday :D Hope you enjoyed MLG weekend!
It's time for another edition of Food Porn. This week: Lamb Burgers with Tzatziki Sauce!
INGREDIENTS
- Salt
- Pepper
- Rosemary
- Olive Oil
- Dill (not shown)
- 1 1/2 lb of Ground Lamb
- 4 Whole Wheat Buns
- 1 Tomato
- 1/2 Red Onion
- 1/2 cup of Romaine Lettuce
- 1/2 Cucumber
- 1/2 Juice of a Lemon
- 1 Cup of Greek Yogurt
- 1/2 cup of Feta Cheese
- 2 Teaspoons of Horse Radish Powder (You can substitute Horse Radish sauce instead)
PROCEDURE
- Slice your tomato and onion.
- Slice 3/4 of your cucumber; reserve remaining cucumber for Tzatziki sauce.
- Add 1/4 of your cucumber, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of Feta cheese, salt, and pepper into a food processor.
- Process ingredients and remove from food processor.
- Fold in your Greek yogurt and dill.
- Stir in your horse radish (if you are using powder, you may want to add a little water so that you get a paste-like consistency)
- Combine ground lamb, rosemary, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- Form ground lamb into patties.
- Place burgers in a hot pan.
- Cook burgers for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the meat begins to bleed (juice will begin to seep out from the burgers).
- When burgers are finished, remove from heat.
- Spread Tzatziki sauce onto the whole wheat buns. Place vegetables on top of the bun. Add your burger. Add cheese.
And you're done! :D

Come on man, now I'm fucking hungry >.<

The Tzatziki and feta really round out the lamb really well. I had something very similar to this in Bulgaria once, soo goood!
|
lamb? tzatziki? red onions? sexy as hell!
|
This looks reeeeeeally good :D
I love burgers ^^ Out of curiosity, what made you decide on lamb as opposed to any other meat? Was there any particular reason?

Needs to have a spoiler * Dont look at if you are on a diet * Looks amazing!

What kind of cheese would you recommend? You didn't mention any particular kind in the ingredients , but mention it in the instructions.
The pictures are gorgeous...

Oops. Fail on my part.
I suggest Feta.

T.T I want to make these so bad, but there is no meat in my house atm, only tofu... Going to have to wait until the weekend to buy some ^^ By the way, is there something else other than horseradish that you would recommend for the sauce? I'm not that fond of the taste of horseradish, but I'd like to substitute something else into the recipe instead of just leaving it out

that looks disgusting.. i could not force my self to eat what is in that picture. it looks sloppy and gross cant imagine how people eat it.

Pro points for baking!
D: I'm terrible at baking. Takes me so many tries just to get a simple bread recipe right.

You're about a month too early for April Fool's Day.

Hmm, honestly, I'd just leave out the horseradish in the Tzatziki sauce. Traditional Tzatziki without any additional stuff is pretty darn tasty and it complements the lamb flavors.
If you're looking for something different, you could try a mint-based sauce. It's just basically mint boiled with a little sugar, salt and vinegar.
