I really love this series, it's so enjoyable and light-hearted throughout. As a sidenote, I like Baen's policy about ARC's being purchasable.

Halfway through it, it is decent, but not as good as Scarecrow

really, there's no point reading any of the new sci fi until you've gone through the classics. I should have read this ages ago, it would have saved me a lot of time trawling through sci fi trash looking for gold.

Working my way through Endymion atm, and after that gonna read alastair reynolds and neuromancer and some other works i ordered on amazon! But there is one series i cannot recommend enough, as much a "classic" as any: "The Night's Dawn trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton" An absolute masterpiece by any measure or standards! - First book here

I really like Hyperion, but Fall of Hyperion got a little too far into the realm of crazy bullshit for me. Very well thought out and interesting bullshit, but I felt like it was more short story territory instead of something that should be in a novel. How are the Endymion books if you've read them yet? Very curious if I should pick that series back up or not.

Next on the cards is The Player of Games by Iain M Banks, then The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Can't wait.

The sequel to Trainspotting, which was amazingly good. This one didn't start out as good, but I'm about 2/3rds of the way through it now and it's getting pretty interesting..

Love me some Irvine Welsh @oldgregg. You're right though, it's nowhere near as good as Trainspotting.

I don't read that often nowadays though, so I guess it will take me another 2 years to reread it completely. FML :D (j/k, I like WoT)

I can't wait for what the final volume will bring! If you have read the first two, i defo reccomend to read the Endymion series as well, it's a whole new "setup" (i won't spoiler stuff so i can't tell you much) in the future of the Hyperion setting!

Interesting and very topical. Would strongly recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in economics.
