So I have been hooked on starcraft 2 since the day it was released. I grew up playing Brood War with friends, just doing customs and what not, did the campaign, and saw that SC2 was coming out and thought to myself, " What the hell, I have a job right now, loved the first one, loved WC3 and WoW, why not keep up with the whole blizzard binge!". So I pre-ordered it, picked it up on opening day and immediately said, " Fuck the campaign, I am doing 2v2's!" And for awhile I liked it, I would cannon myself into my base and mass void rays (herp sherp derp). Then one day, I thought I would youtube starcraft, and I found H to the Uskey Huskey! Man did he open my eyes. I heard him saying "Pro Players" and talk about strats and what not, so I googled "Star Craft 2 Pro players" and Team Liquid was the number one thing I found. When I first came onto the site I had no idea that my entire life as I know it would change!
So a quick bit of background on me, I have always been a avid gamer, I grew up while my dad was still in med school, doing his internship, fellow ship, long tiring hours. So when he got home he didn't really want to go throw a ball or anything, so we played super nintendo, age of empires, when I got older we went to LAN's together, when I was 14 I was on a CS 1.6 "team". We did some online tournaments, I won a little money from it, thought it was cool and that was about it! I was also on chess team for 4 years and long studying chess and getting good at it!
So back to my main topic, I found what SC2 1v1 was! Oh it was a joyess thing. I learned to 4 gate, I was in shock and awe of Nestea, oGsMC and the like, I would dedicate my self to practicing and studying the game.I jumped from bronze to gold in about a month and have not stop progressing from there. This game is always changing, there is always something to be working on. This is the most cerebral intensive game I have ever experienced (more so than chess in my opinion) and that is what I love about it. I guess the only downside is that I am bored of most other games now. I did my 48 hours of skyrim, then was drawn back, I got and signed up for SWTOR and got bored easily. Nothing is as much of a challenge as SC2 is (please don't start a "BW vs. SC2 difficulty" rage!). You need to do everything perfect, you need to make split second descisions, and just when you think you have it figured out, you are king, you lose. You lose something you have never seen, something you don't understand, a tiny mis-click, and that reminds you that you need to practice me, and on what.
I don't know if I will ever be able to get over SC2 (well lets just say starcraft, who knows what will be out in 15 years) and I think it is all for the better!
edit: fixed some typo's, sorry about that!

yeah once you bite the forbidden apple that is sc2, there is no going back. All other games (save for bw if you're feeling nostalgic) pale in comparison to the adrenalin inducing, brain-building epic that is sc2.

I think one thing that SC2 changed about me was change the way I look at games. I understand timings and how the impact balance and whatnot so much more now. Also I now consider all my gamer friends to be noob scrubs who have no skill and are forever bronze.

it's like dota, extremely addictive but has a lot more depth to it.
that being said, i wonder which of the sc2 i would be playing, maybe heart of the swarm since i am a zerg. I hope the expansion won't split up the community too much
