My sister went through a bunch of old family photo albums, scanned them, and uploaded them today. It's amazing how a single photo can release such strong emotions.
I'm a pretty tough SOB. I've done a number of dumb/reckless things, and should be in a lot worse condition than I currently am in, but I'm still fine. I've been through situations where I should have ended up far more injured than I actually was. Yea, there's probably a bit of luck thrown in there, but there has definitely been some situations where I shouldn't have been able to walk away from, yet I did, and relatively unscathed.
But when I saw some photos of my father from when I was younger, I broke down and cried. It's been years since I've seen these photos, and it really hit me hard. He died after a 3 year struggle with cancer and it's effects. I was 14 at the time.
I'm 23 now, and it's still hitting me hard. Seeing those photos brought back a lot of memories, both good and bad.
I've gotta be up in less than 5 hrs for work, but I doubt that I'm going to get a good night sleep tonight.
EDIT - I'm going to pre-emptively say a big "fuck you" to any of you guys who tries to make some kind of pun about me not being very "impervious".....

Shit man, not much I can say to that, I have no comparable experiences.
Still, if you need a shoulder to cry on, don't hesitate to PM me, TL is here for you.

Unfortunately that is what photos are for. Like music they remind you of the time they were taken. Normally that is a good thing, but sometimes it aint.
Good luck mate, if nothing else this proves you're human.

Wow man, that's tough stuff. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm a generally unemotional type of person, but this resonated with me. I feel for you, hope everything's all right.
Same as Marshal, feel free to PM.

It's better to have those photos around though than to not have anything at all in my opinion.

Made a joke about how emotions are permeable and your sister felt how you felt. Nevermind it's not appropriate.
RIP.

Theres nothing wrong with that. Caring about your family is the most important trait to have.
