Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.

Question: Anyone been in a weird situation with family? not the coming out part, but afterwards?
Decided I'd tell my mother's side of the family (Very liberal and supportive) about it and not my fathers side of the family (Very republican, not supportive.) Both sides of the family coming together for turkey day dinner? I was so expecting some kind of disaster and yelling... especially since alcohol was involved (though not as much as usual).
Everything turned out great though. ^-^ But im curious, any of you been in kinda goofy weird situations like that?
Nothing goofy! Just the soul crushing fear every time my parents tell me that being gay is a sin and their obstinate refusal to believe that it might not be a choice!
I am actually super jelly that you had the courage to come out to your family. I get panicked when I think about doing it.
Every time i get close to convincing myself to come out to my family(relatively speaking - only bi), i end up hearing my dad say something ridiculously stupid, or i have a family get together with my extremely religious relatives....and im like, "na, not yet"

Well, I'm going to be in an awkward situation this upcoming Christmas season... I'll be back visiting my parents' house for only the 2nd time since I left (got kicked out....) 9 years ago at age 17. The weird part, however, will be that I know 100000% they'll want me to go to church with them (Mormon) and I'm basically an atheist now. My brother and his family will also be there, and I know for a fact they've been questioning their faith in the last year and are 99% certain they'll be leaving the church as well. Fun times and great religious debates to be had by all!
On another note, I had a great Thanksgiving with one of my classmates and her family. It was super nice of her to open her home to me, and I was able to put my fabulousness to use by making all the pies!

Something like that... she hadn't bought enough blueberry filling for the pie, so I grabbed and thawed some frozen mixed berries, added those + some water and corn syrup, and it ended up being a wonderful mixed berry pie with perfect golden brown crust.... salivating remembering it!

Well, I'm certain if your family makes something miserable that either someone on this thread or someone somewhere will open their arms to you until you can get back to your own place. Also, that sounds DELICIOUS! I had the luck of a food processor and a stand mixer at my parents house, so I made a nice pumpkin spice cheesecake. It was delicious! <3 slightly undercooked (center was watery) but next time! ^^ <3
And yeah, getting kicked out or having to leave leaves with limited options of talking with people, but I like to think that those of us who can offer a hand will. <3

Nope, my family were all very accepting :D, in fact, I don't think I have had a single person 'turn against me' on the basis that I told them my actual sexuality and they had a bad reaction towards it o_O;

Do you, at risk of calling out a hetero guy, pretend ignorance and just try to end the conversation (I'm busy, etc), but then you're being rude?
The easy answer is to probably talk about a girl you are interested in, if you can get the subject there. There are few enough of us bi guys that that will probably not be misconstrued.

I did!
And I'm in the GTL channel but I'm watching dreamhack so I'm probably not good conversation.
I really like the heart monitors. It's cool to see how ramped up players get in certain situations and how damn calm they stay in so many of them. But I kinda wonder at the accuracy of them.
so i told my dad about how im bi basically even though i haven't experimented with any guys ( gf 3 years =] <3)
all my life my dad has been like hey , only man and woman okay ? man and man *makes a disgusted face* the moment i told him he instantly accepted it and said "hey ur my son everything is fine" , "mayb i dont change my opinion on other (gay ) people but ur my son, ur alright with me."

Hehe, kind of a goofy reaction, but definetly understandable. They do say blood runs thicker than water and there are a lot of people who have bad reactions against gay people, and then start feeling better about it in family. I'm glad he took it so well though. <3
So, question. Have you guys ever wished you were more... feminine? I mean, not a girl. Maybe it's just a grass is always greener kinda thing, but I'm currently 6' tall, 195 pounds, look about 180-190 (bit out of shape. Boo.) And I look very... manly. to the point where you could almost describe me as rugged. But I don't like it. There is too much testosterone coming out of me. X3 But what I WANT to be? I want to be that guy who's like... 5'6, 5'7 (or lower) curvy, feminine characteristics... girly boi-esque. and I don't. at all. x.x Currently the only thing I've done that made me feel any better was switching from antibacterial soap to an exfoliating one. X3
So... uhm... can anyone offer serious solutions? I'm starting a good diet and getting back into more exercise now that break is over but... I feel so... in the wrong body. Not gender-wise, but body-wise. x.x

So keep doing what you're doing haha.
If you don't like your body. Change your body. I'm the opposite. I feel too feminine and wish I was more rugged. A lot of that is because I look like a freaking 12 year old. I don't shave and I've started wearing less fitted stuff but I still feel too effeminate.
You could also like, super style your hair, wear deep deep v-necks, shape your eyebrows, skinny jeans, bright shoes, and I guess you could force a lisp.

I highly recommend you either take them to see "The Book of Mormon" on broadway or at least buy them the CD. Also, have fun. I wish I had pies
