Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |

You do know that it's basically as unhealthy to shower that much as it is not to shower at all?

Gay males fit the women profile w.r.t. this.
Also, the ratio of the 3rd/4th finger for Gay men is the same as for women, and for Lesbian women is the same for men.
Neurobiologist and primatologist Robert Sapolsky explains it very well on the Stanford Neuroscience lectures on youtube (see: human sexual behavior).
I wouldn't be surprised if the feminine mannerisms that some gay guys have is similar to the above .. i.e. genetic similarities with females.

I don't understand why people don't have at least a baseline level of appropriate hygiene... I shower 2-3 times a day for christsake. I shower once every 4-5 days. When someone presents me some scientific evidence that this is a large detriment to my health, then I may consider doing what you do. But at present I do not possess any evidence that it is detrimental (it could have a positive effect, I've heard a scientist say that human hygiene is too good and it's adversely affecting the efficacy of our immune system).

Q: If you're a hetero guy and another guy appears to be hitting on you, what's the proper let down protocol? Do you call him out and politely say you're not interested in him? Do you, at risk of calling out a hetero guy, pretend ignorance and just try to end the conversation (I'm busy, etc), but then you're being rude?

"sorry mate, im not gay"
seriously though, nothing wrong with being honest.

you guys... disgusting ><
my first bf showered every other day... it wasn't bad except during the summer on the off day. So long as you use deoderant daily, not showering daily wouldn't be too bad...
Also, regarding adverse effects on the efficacy of our immune system, there are a few systemic immunodeficiency disorders that have been associated with extreme cleanliness, but for the most part, just by living in the US, you are at higher risk of things like Crohn's disease which has been associated with living in clean environments.

I think you missed an important facet of the question: If you're not sure if the other dude is gay, you won't want to just bust out the "Sorry, I'm not gay" because the dude could just be very friendly.
My advice is to just be polite and don't worry about it. If you're not sure if someone is hitting on you, being polite and talking with them is not quite the same as signing a contract agreeing to have sex with them. Just carry on and if anything more suggestive is said that gives you a better idea of your friend's motive, you can take action. In which case as drshadow said, a little "I'm flattered, but no" is just fine.
And on the hygiene thing, I'll be perfectly honest and say that I'm shocked (clutches pearls) that some people actually consider not bathing at least once a day. I mean that is... just how it's done, right? Even twice a day if you don't feel like changing your bed linen as often (e.g. getting into bed clean).
|
I'll go once a day usually, on rough mental days where I haven't done tons physically, I will occasionally go a day and a night without a shower instead of daily. Of course, anything where I've sweated warrants an immediate shower (running, working out, etc.) and aside from that it's usually just a nightly shower for me. 4-5 times a day seems excessive (assuming not a hyperactive lifestyle) and once every 4-5 days is just... eww. sorry guys, but CLEAN UP YOUR CLEANING! <3 Otherwise, you aren't as pretty! D:

Yo, just wanna say, as a Hetero dude, I support this thread wholeheartedly. Growing up in Utah has some huge detriments to Gay Culture, particularly in the suburb I live in. All too often I saw it in High School, kids I knew getting kicked out of their homes and being forced to live with friends or worse because they came out to their parents. I'm not exaggerating. Me, I grew up a different religion, with a different set of values, than most of the people around me, and knowing those people, I wondered how their parents could be so cruel.
Now, I'm a bit effeminate, growing up with only my Mom in the house, we watched a lot of the same TV. I came to appreciate fashion, but I'm also an athlete. Many of my gay friends in High School were exactly the same way. After graduating, my girlfriend roomed with two gay guys, and the running joke they had for me was that I'm 'more gay than we(they) are.' And they're now two of my best friends, two great guys.
As someone who's seen the worst of what the 'anti-gay,' and 'homophobic,' culture has to offer, I deeply appreciate what you're doing here.
And on the current topic.... Shower every day man... I can understand maybe skipping a day occasionally, I've actually been doing it a lot lately with exams going on, and needing to pull all-nighters to study... But seriously man, anything more than 2 days without a shower is gross. I have good hygiene, but I also have an immune system of bronze, I haven't been to the doctor since I got pneumonia when I was 4, and I can count the times I've had to take more than one sick-day at a time on one hand, not counting hang-overs. You wanna improve your immune system? Ride public transit like I've been doing nearly every day since I was 14... You'll be immune to colds before you know it. But seriously man... Take a shower every day, brush them teeth twice a day, and wash them hands... Or do you want some dudes nut-sweat on your hands every time you leave the bathroom? Seriously, you don't know where his nuts have been... He might'a dipped them in Marinara Sauce...

I'm passionate about my hygiene. :|

i get so excited every time i see this thread bumped
OT: at least one shower per day, with the occasional skip if i didnt really do anything that day.
|

those are when I feel the need to shower more frequently, usually once before the session, once halfway through on my hour long shit/shower/fap/eat break and then again at the end to wake myself up. Not proper shampoo and body wash showers mind you, just a rinse off to wake up and get all refreshed.

Just keep being friendly. If the conversation is interesting then it's worth your time. If he's gay, that will come out soon enough and then you can say "sorry man, I'm not gay." But a lot of guys, especially when they've been drinking, can get confusing...it's usually not wise to assume.

Sorry bro. Ain't gay.
I guess?

This thread not on the front page? Blasphemy!
Question: Anyone been in a weird situation with family? not the coming out part, but afterwards?
Decided I'd tell my mother's side of the family (Very liberal and supportive) about it and not my fathers side of the family (Very republican, not supportive.) Both sides of the family coming together for turkey day dinner? I was so expecting some kind of disaster and yelling... especially since alcohol was involved (though not as much as usual).
Everything turned out great though. ^-^ But im curious, any of you been in kinda goofy weird situations like that?

Oh, and I think i'll go back into playing starcraft more than once a week (though I still watch it ALL the time) when I actually get a headset... X3 I want to talk to people while playing with them, and my mechanics are so bad I cant really do it mid-game because im always behind. X3
BUT! You will see me in the GTL channel at some point again! <3 I checked once and there was no one in there, but that was a few weeks ago and it was a random time of night for the american server.
But yeah! hiyas. <3
Also, just came out to my roommate, and my BF is coming to visit in a few weeks, so im kinda on top of the world right now! Wheeeeeeeee! <3<3<3 ^-^ Sweet to know that you decided to come out and also have got positive feedback <3 glhf! Edit: Realised that there are a lot of cute guy pics in this thread. This makes me feel more and more that great/cute guys are either gay/married. Sad. My best friend is gay and I have known him since I was 13. Love him to death, he is busy with life now but I do miss him a lot. Another thing I wanted to come out and say is that there are a few transgender members in our girls of starcraft group. We have about 220 members and I am pretty sure we have at least 20 trans' Some of them have gone through surgery, some half, some just cross dress. They all love men. Are they considered gay still after they change sex? Kelly.
No, they'd be considered straight. Kinda funny though, most of the trans women I know are lesbians.

Nothing goofy! Just the soul crushing fear every time my parents tell me that being gay is a sin and their obstinate refusal to believe that it might not be a choice!
I am actually super jelly that you had the courage to come out to your family. I get panicked when I think about doing it.

Gay people go on and on about wanting to be accepted herpderp...
Yet every time they open their mouth they talk about them being "gay" ... I dont care, i dont care if youre having sex with a female, male or a fish.. keep it to yourself, this is one of the reasons people dislike gay 'steriotypes' Another reason would be the godawefull gayparade... i mean come on...
Be proud of being gay, thats fine... But what the fuck does dancing around on stages in womens clothes acting like 13 year old attentionseeking brats have to do with homosexuality ? ive never understood it, it almost makes me think people go gay to get a free pass on acting like ever the fuck they want and noone can say a thing, because then you hate gay people herpderp..
