Continuing the good news that began with the sponsorship of Plus (now known as Lecaf OZ) POS have announced that they have reached an agreement with... MBC!
MBC, stands for Moonhwa (culture) Broadcasting Corporation and as ya'll probably know, it is a television network in Korea. It owns one of Korea's four network channels and a number of cable enterprises... most notably MBC Game channel.
Television stations have sponsored professional sports in Korea before; When the Korean Baseball Organization launched back in the early 80's one of the teams were the "MBC Blue Dragons". SBS, another network, used to own a professional basketball team in the KBL.
It looks like MBC Game are committed to providing POS with top-class conditions. The standards of corporate teams (kick-ass dorms/practice facilities, van, etc.) will be met by MBC. This will include, for the first time in any pro team, seperate housing and practice facilities. (They sleep/live in one house and work in the other)
Says MBC Game: "We decided to make a pro-gaming team to contribute to the Korean e-sports scene and to create new growth in the overseas e-sports scene. As MBC Game undergoes many changes in a new era, we can show to young audiences of 10s and 20s that MBC is a dynamic and vibrant company."
"While considering sponsorship we talked with MBC headquarters and they agreed to generous funding. The team name will not be "MBC Game," it will likely be "MBC"
Thus POS will soon unveil a new team name, new team logo, and new uniforms at a official launch ceremony soon.
MBC Game also plans to sponsor pros in other games, such as WarCraft 3, Counter-Strike, and etc, sponsoring players who are good at games that are popular overseas.
[Interviews]
Captain: Pusan I'm very happy about getting sponsored. Contract signing is still left, and I hope it will all go well. Team members are of course delighted. We are all looking forward to competing under the best environment. As captain, there is pressure to bring in good results. But I'll work hard as captain and repay my employers with results. 2005 was a year where I played for myself, the individual. In 2006 I will play for the team. Watch us as we continue to improve. We will be the best team of 2006.
July I don't think the conditions have changed that much. We have always played our best and showed good results for our fans. Now we have only one goal - first place. Whether it's individual leagues or team leagues we'll be putting the name of our new team at the top.
*******
So this is obviously really good news. POS was the most improved team of 2006, and along with GO they are the best team to not have corporate backing. Now they do. Yay.
POS have the dangerous Z-P-T triple threat of July, Pusan, and Sea. Additionally, POS members did exceptionally well in the MBC minor league qualifiers and the OSL extra qualifiers this week. Their new players are really ready to make a splash.
As for MBC Game, this is a great move. Players will be introduced as "MBC Game - somebody" and they will have the network logo and advertisements on their uniforms, even on OGN. In fact, POS members have 3 of the 6 seeds in the next OSL. This way, MBC game has a presence in all networks, including the to-be-formed third gaming channel from CJ Media. CJ Media is the largest owner of cable channels, and no doubt MBC game was feeling the heat.
Anyway, another piece of good news from the progaming world. This brings the sponsorship status of teams to:
Large corporate backing: SK Telecom T1, KTF MagicNs, Samsung Electronics Khan.
Mid-sized corporate backing: LeCaf OZ, Pantech and Curitel Curriors, MBC POS
Smaller corporate backing: HanbitSoft, eNature TopTeam,
No backing: G.O., KOR, Soul.

Omg, very good news. They really deserve it.

Cool, hope they keep the design on the uniforms, they rock.

if they are the first team to have individual housing and best living conditions, then why are they only mid sized corporate backing. If it is a television corportion, shouldnt it be big? Im not sure what the top teams sponsers are, so i dont know what im comparing it too

Good question.
1. The living quarters/ practice facilities of other teams, while not seperate, are very, very, very good.
2. MBC game is big. But SKT, KTF, and Samsung are much, much larger.

OGN is gonna be in trouble when 3 of their top seeds for the next OSL are all representing MBC Game.
Perhaps OGN should sponsor G.O. now to see Savior representing them in the next MSL.
Also why isn't July the captain?

at least now fatzerg will have to walk between where he sleeps and where he practices
the exercise will be good for him
i think that's why he was sort of blasé about the whole thing

Pusan is older.
Captain not always best player. In any sport. Usually seniority. Particularly in Korea.

What's the job of the captain? How are his responsibilities different than others?

Like any captain in any sport, the captains are sort of in between the players and the coach. For the added authority he gets over the other players, he also burdens more responsibilities.
Being a captain, in any sport, really has little to do with actual play, it's mostly an in-team thing.
Sorry the answer if vague... I guess I mean to say that's it's nothing out of the ordinary, nothing particularly different than in other sports.

omg, no work means JulyZerg will get even fatter!

great news thanks honesttea

That's huge ~_~ MBC!? It's good to have a broadcasting sponsor for a sport. While size, MBC is medium, I think it's would be one of the best sponsors to have.

JulyZerg isn't fat. His face has an insulin bloat which leads me to believe that his pancreas is hyperactive. Judging by his physique in streetclothes and his recent POS uniform, I would estimate that he isn't even above 20% bodyfat, and by medical standards, 30%+ is obese. He has just a little bit of gynecomastia but that is relatively independent of bodyfat levels, its more a matter of an untimely testosterone spike, which triggers a concurrent rise in estrogen, and hence fatty deposits around the areola. Sure, he has some weight to lose ... he isn't pole thin and emaciated like his competitors, but the incessant fat jokes are ridiculous and unwarranted.
