It was 325PM, Friday the 28th. I was on the subway (PATH) heading to Newark Penn Station. I am just minding my own business, listening to my own music, and waiting out the 25 minute train ride. I pass Grove, Newport, Harrison, and then Journal Square. On my COWON MP3 player, Armin Van Buuren's ASOT 2010 comes on, which is one of my favorite albums, and my favorite trance artist. As it starts playing, I slip into serenity and listen.
Moments later, my mind starts racing. I recall how not just one week ago, DJMAG announced who the greatest DJ of the year was, with Armin Van Buuren coming in second place, and David Guetta receiving first place. To the entire trance community, and to me personally, this was blasphemy, as the world of DJ'ing recognizes and globally admits that AVB is THE pinnacle of DJ'ing, for what he has done in the world. The live crowd reaction for Mr. Guetta winning was filled with boo's and chants to get off the stage, with AVB humbly saying that we as people wanted him to win.
This filled me with rage. I immediately ranted and posted on facebook, stating how much I hated Guetta and how much better AVB was. I got a response from my favorite sorority sister, who mark my word, is the hottest and coolest chick in the world. She was basically jokingly calling me a dumbass for my responses, and naturally being her friend, I responded back with some witty comments which maybe went a bit too far, and we started fighting.
So, now that you guys know the setting, lets fast-forward to today. I am on the train, and for those of you who dont know, trains in my area are very long, packed, and come by every few minutes. This girl lives in NYC where we went to school together, and I live in Jersey City now. The odds of seeing each other, on the same train, on the same train's car, going to NEWARK PENN STATION, at the same time... yeah. You get the point.
I'm listening to AVB and get a tap on the shoulder. I take off my headphones and turn, and before I can see the person's face, I was hugged. She looked at me and said "What the fuck Ron?!". Nothing else could be said. We burst out laughing in the middle of the train, at 330PM on a Friday, with every other passenger thinking we were insane for how loud we were being.
We both are going to the SAME place in New Jersey -- me so I can get a haircut, and her because she is going home, and so we are yet again taking another train together into Central Jersey.
Honestly, the odds of this and the probability are ridiculous. And the best part of it is, I swear to god, right before I saw her, I was remembering about how much I thought she was a bitch for talking shit about AVB to me, and then, bam. There she was. -___-;;
I'm typing this on my phone while we are waiting for the train, and I am going to introduce her to Team Liquid, and show her a stream from my Android. We can have another absolutely gorgeous and sweet girl in the community possibly. :o) Talk to you later TL, and have a great weekend!
P.S. She says Hi.
