Lately I've really been wanting to start up DJing again. About a year ago I started to post mixes on soundcloud and blogged about them on TL and had a reasonable amount of success. I decided to quit in June however because I was busy with other things and sold almost all of my gear. One piece of gear however has been really hard to sell and it's been in my room since I quit. I've been glancing at it for 6 months now, and the more I would look the more I wanted to start again. Sure enough, I decided a couple of days ago that I am going to start up again and make mixes. Turns out the xone offers just barely enough to be able to DJ without having to buy anything else, so I got pretty lucky there.
I missed a few aspects about DJing. Firstly I missed the music. Other podcasts are good but my mixes were always my favorite not only because I made them but mainly because they were my taste in music. So I definitely experienced a lack of music in general. Secondly I enjoyed the goal aspect of DJing. Actually completing the goal of constructing regular mixes feels good, I feel like I've actually accomplished something which is tangible (which is true). Lastly, I enjoyed hearing positive feedback from others. It's so cool to hear when somebody tells you they enjoyed your set, just kind of like a cherry on top of the cake.
Anyway so I'm back with new mixes, hopefully regularly about every 3 weeks - 1 month. I just made this latest one tonight, I think it turned out ok. I'm a bit rusty but I don't think it's too apparent. This mix is mainly electro house with progressive house/trance more towards the middle/end. Overall though there's a very bassy vibe I'd say. About half new stuff, half older stuff, definitely have a lot of tracks to catch up on so this included quite a few older ones (none of which I've played in previous sets though).

I actually found your stuff through cArn's stream. He put a link up and I grabbed all your music.
Listening to your new stuff now, thanks man ^_^ I've found that these mixes are great for playing starcraft especially!

Heh I said I'd PM you if I didn't decide to blog about it. Let me know what you think about this one, I definitely feel rusty but I think it ended up pretty ok.

I feel "I Need to Do" doesn't mesh that well with the rest of the track, but it definitely puts me in a much more chill mood. The rest is, as usual, hot.

You know I was contemplating about that one. I semi agree but I don't think it's one of those tracks that ruins a set or is completely out of nowhere. It fits in with the electro theme at the time but it IS a bit different sounding. That was one of those tracks that I've had for a long time and has gotten old and just wanted to get it out of the way more like. Pretty astute on your part though to recognize that.

Hey, bumping this to say I listened to the mix and although you say you're rusty I've still found it quite good!! (Of course I don't think I could tell the difference xD). The May 2011 is still my favorite but this is still quite good!
