BACKGROUND: I am a HoN and a Sc2 player. My friends switched over from HoN and Sc2 to LoL, but I will never do so. I am forever a try hard, and will forever play these try hard games. It is a matter of some contention between me and everyone else (except for one other tryhard among us) that most of us play LoL.
* * *
I'm talking on the phone. I've called into a multi-person skype call and am relaying to a female friend-of-a-friend about how I studied abroad in Japan in my sophomore year and had a number of problem children I had to deal with. The stories are hilarious, but I am reluctant to tell them. In this dream, the story is true.
I am outside at the nearby airfield. I say "hey, i'll call you back-- the shuttle is about to launch." It's the first shuttle of the new generation, powered by a nuclear missile. Proudly written on the side of it is "yesterday's weapons for tomorrow's future" and I realize I'm close enough to read it. I say to them that I'm super super close to the launch-- that I'll be able to watch it easily.
Suddenly, the catwalk/platform I'm on starts to rumble and drive to the side. "Of course, they wouldn't let us stay this close! They're moving the platform."
As it rolls away, it is revealed that there's a seating platform for civilians. I see SoSBrute on it, and he waves to me and tells me to come and sit. He's saving a spot for me. I wait for the platform to come to a halt, and grab a pole as it does so, nearly pinching my fingers badly between two levers coming together.
I jump off and start running towards the platform. I pass several policemen, with plastic visors that aren't yet snapped down over their faces, and I worry that if they see a running person they'll stop me.
I reach that platform and see that it's full of people I knew from high school vaguely. The trumpet player who was a year older than me, Elijah, is there. He's there with another dude who I recognize as being in his class and being someone I know as well as him, but now that I'm awake I know doesn't actually exist. Elijah's hair is dyed a lavender, almost white.
I talk with SoSBrute and the others. One of the girls (Tiffany?) has a new computer, and she's showing it off. I notice that it has League of Legends on it.
That girl, plus Sammy, are both looking at their computers. I see Sammy open up LoL on her computer.
"Oh no!" I cry, "Not League of Legennnnnnds!?"
"Join us," says Sammy.
One by one, each of the people (besides SoSBrute) opens up their laptop and begins playing LoL, and each time the horror grows.
I can still see Tiffany's desktop. At least she's not playing.
OH NO SHE HAS THE DESKTOP ICON.
She smiles at me and opens LoL.

At this point, I wake up in a blind panic and kick the sheets off me. I'm sweating and don't feel rested at all.
A horrifying nightmare.

Friends moving to LoL always gives me chills :\

I hate those nightmares that aren't so far-fetched that might actually come true in real life. You might have trouble going to sleep for awhile.

SC2 try hard, I had a nice laugh.

I'm not even like, physical afraid of LoL or anything. I'm just not a LoL player-- but for some reason, during this dream, it was utterly terrifying.

You fight the good fight, friend.

People moving to LoL... we feel here that LoL is an inferior game. It's more casual, its shallower.
We fear inside that it appeals to the masses more than SC, we fear that said masses will gravitate towards it

Yeah that happens sometimes. One time I had a nightmare with the main horrible things being an organ that played its song and had already killed my family with the song. Looking back, it wasn't scary at all but it had me wimpering in a corner wide awake in blind fear for the rest of the night.

My girlfriend wants me to play LoL with her. I can't convince her to play DotA instead

Stay true man! You're fears about LoL are well based!
Honestly, I've never played LoL so I can't really say its bad. But deep down inside I have a strong hate for it. I think its mostly cause I'm a HoN/SC2 guy as well and its frustrating that the moba community is all split up into different games when we could all really be playing one game instead! I'm hoping a lot of people switch to Dota 2 and unite (unite might not really be the right word for the horrible dota community, as unity always eludes my team even though it is a damn team game)
I think I also have a dislike for LoL since it panders to the casual audience and wants to be an esport competitive with SC2, when they're not anywhere near the same level of greatness.

I've had dreams of playing DotA, thank god HoN or LoL never invaded my sweet dreams.

I've actually played LoL and it seems like a fine game-- it just costs money to get the full game, and since the full game of DotA is free (since I own Wc3 and TFT) and I bought HoN during the beta, there's no real reason for me to play LoL. Even if LoL is actually a better game that HoN and DotA, it would still cost money for me, whereas I can play the other two for free.
I probably won't bother switching over to DotA 2 (which seems like it will be a superior-quality game) unless HoN and DotA 1 lose most of their communities. As a somewhat low-level player in these games, I don't really care where the pro scene goes as long as things remain balanced.

hey it's not all bad. If it makes you feel better, I play LoL and Sc2 about the same amount now...one game a week each
