-I played Dota for 6-7 yrs hon from beta till release and same for LoL(perspective) Edit: These games are often amazingly fun to play especially w/ friends on vent but can be difficult to watch even for fans of the game. I would compare it to some sports(basketball for me, can't watch that shit omfg its boring-love playing though).

I don't mind it, but I would hate it being on stream if I had never played the game. To be honest, 90% of the sc2 related filler they had was annoying to me. I fell asleep at one point during a joke match. Boxer BW matches were awesome, though!

As for LoL.... I just watched and it was a clusterfuck, even though I have an understanding of MOBA games (played HoN, DoTA). I was indifferent about LoL until I actually watched it, now I dislike it. The only real reason I can see it being treated so seriously as an e-sport must be the huge injection of cash by the production company.

P.S. the OP is so biased here that it is impossible to take this seriously. starcraft 2 is definitely not easier to understand then LoL, I play both and they are equally boring and confusing to watch. Stop being homers.

Stop being homers. Actually all the money Riot is pumping into trying to create an esports scene is what is probably going to kill competitive LoL eventually. The thing is that all of that money isn't coming from third party sponsors and the like the way it is with SC2, it's coming directly from the dev company itself. Even for a company as financially successful as Riot this is simply unsustainable, especially considering the amount of money that Riot's throwing at their pro scene. I could be wrong but I would be extremely surprised if they could maintain or grow the size of their prize pools for an extended period of time. Riot is throwing huge sums of money at the scene right away, historically we've seen that any reduction in the size of prize pools and things like that tend to have disastrous results on competitive scenes (Although, tbh, the prize money they're offering is significantly better than even CS or Warcraft 3 at their respective heights so they have that going for themselves at least). Also I don't buy that LoL is taking over the esports scene nonsense. If that was the case you would see sponsors for teams and events starting to shift from other games. We haven't really seen that, there's still tons of money in the SC2 scene, the fighting game scene and in other MOBA games like HoN and now DOTA2. I would be somewhat surprised if in a year LoL's is still the primary competitive game in it's own genre much less dominating the entire esports scene.

Stop being homers. lol Riot is basically throwing all of their money to create a real esport scene about their game but it's clearly not working well. They know that when Dota 2 is released it will overtake them in the Moba scene especially esport wise because Dota 2 has Valve backing them and they already have a more established scene then LoL ever will.
