So I think it was on Thursday when they were patching 1.4.1, I just finished my tests and it was the first day of the year that I finally had no homework! I was all pumped to play starcraft 2, then found out I couldn't because of this patch stuff...
Fast forward a day and its now the weekend. Pumped to play starcraft!!! All prepared to play 15 hours, and then my computer started failing on me. I knew this was coming for a long time, but why did it have to come now?
Now, my dad is "looking" at it blaming me that I broke and was mis treating it because it makes perfect sense to a gamer to abuse their computer and break it. I think there is something wrong with the PSU or something because it only starts up once in a while now and can't stay on longer than a day( it will turn off) and plus, who doesn't want a new computer upgrade?
Well now I am stuck on a rainy saturday with no starcraft to play on in the first time in a very very long time, and i am pending the approval of a new computer through my dad. He says that my computer works perfectly fine even though when he tried to boot it in front of me it wouldnt start up(LOL).
Going into sc2 withdrawl is going to be fun. I just hope streams are as entertaining to me as they are to other people

watching streams is actually better than playing, since you don't need to put any effort into it and it doesn't crush you spirit like playing does, so you'll be fine
|
Well you're in luck, Stephano is streaming now. There are always events going on, too.
Anyways, I hope you can get your computer fixed soon.

I feel your frustration, I remember standard parental logic is always "you broke the computer bc you play too many games" anytime they accidentally installed a virus heh.

If you didn't have a phone then your life may as well be over now imo.

I remember my first computer. I was so happy to receive my first computer and play gunbound with my friends. Too bad a few days in, I find some corn on the computer. I go up to my dad, I'm like dad what is this, only to not realize at that time it was my dad's corn. I got punished for watching corn at a young age, then when I said it wasn't mine, I got punished for lying. Fuck, the things your parents do to hide their shame. The worst part is, I only played like Gunbound and Maplestory for years and I never watched corn, yet somehow these "viruses" got into the computer somehow and obv I'm blamed for the computer problems. These "viruses" destroyed many good computers that did not deserve to die.

I take it the laptop can't handle sc2 right?

Get to those streams boy.

Been there man. Till this day my heart goes out to my little brother because any time something goes wrong with the family computer it's because, "You play all those stupid games on the idiot box."
God forbid the computer runs slow because none of you know how to NOT put viruses on it. Honestly, if you need, just play some BW. You'll get your RTS fix, and it's just a better game anyway xD

-Finds Dad's porn on computer -Goes to him, "Dad, what is this?" -Dad punishes him for watching porn -Says it isn't his, gets punished harder for "lying" -Dad did it to hide that it was really his porn -Continually gets viruses from downloading porn -Always blames son for the viruses
I found the story pretty funny, haha. His Dad was a dick, in that regard.

dont talk to him until he says yes to atleast having someone take a look at the computer and replacing some parts, that'll show him.
but, if he doesn't like your company in the first place, you're just going to have to suck it up and explain to him in an unbiased way, that these things just happen to computers sometimes. my family always used to say that i'd just break things, but little did they realize that the devices, computers, and whatever it was that was supposed to help me were just worn out and old. it is like saying smething for the sake of saying it, or trying to teach a lesson through something//an experience that's not commonly known about.
one day you might be a mystical computer doctor, so preserve this computer in its entirety. come back to it, perform a detailed autopsy, and confirm to your dad with some ridiculous report or w/e that in actual fact, these things just happen.
it's great though that you don't feel bad about it lmao

haha that corny story cheered me up a bit

Learn a lot about computers. Tell about failing parts and how things work in the computer using strict computer language. Your dad doesn't seem technologically knowledgeable so he'll probably become confused and ask you to explain it in laymen's terms. Continue to use computer speak.
Eventually success will ensue.
