proud of what? of a high prizepool? oh dear thats poor.... Yeah, cause national pride is soooo duuumb riight? If he feels proud about the fact that we have the biggest LAN-event in the world here, let him feel proud. It does not hurt anyone. Spoiler: Off topic + Show Spoiler +National pride is dumb. Being proud of something you have nothing to do with, (being born isn't exactly your own doing, neither that or the location of your birth) makes you look retarded. It doesn't hurt anyone..? wow kids these days.
So there's no point in the Olympics, NBA, Premier League, World Wars I and II etc.

Poker tournaments typically payout in this fashion as well (usually top ~30% of field). Don't forget that poker tournements usually have buy-ins Poker tournaments normally pay out to top 10%, this is 12,5%. (And they have a buy-in.) There is nothing wrong with this payout structure imo. I think it has a positive influence on the best players in the world to come, and in that way we will have better games to watch.
They have a "buy-in", the tournament fee gets them 22 950 sek. That money might pay for half a printed banner, but still.

On topic: Two group stages seems cool. It means a lot of games though. I wonder how many streams there are going to be. We're still going to miss some of the more interesting games no doubt. Good thing they probably will release replays like before. Awesome event, can't wait.

I would guess 4-6 streams at the main event. The online part is hopefully shoutcasted.

It doesn't hurt anyone..? wow kids these days. So there's no point in the Olympics, NBA, Premier League, World Wars I and II etc. Of course there is. National pride alienates citizens from other nations and helps drum up support for government (both the entity overall and the ruling party/ies). Given the tenuous balance of world peace up until relatively recently (and still in many parts of the world), it was vital to help ensure the survival of a nation, and still can be. The problem, of course, is that in the new globalized world, with easy travel to other nations for tourism, work, studies, visiting family/friends etc, these same qualities can be (and generally are) harmful in modernized coutries with fairly stable borders. It still has some use in that it fosters competitiveness, which can be good motivation, and success in sporting (and other) events will improve morale and general happiness in a nation, while losing rarely causes the opposite response.

It seems surprising that you still don't get anything if you survive 2 group stages. In normal formats 8/64 paid sounds fine, but it feels like 16 paid would've suited better in this situation. Also there's no 3rd place match? That's a bit weird. Also wasting 2days to get it 64->16 and then one day for rest of it seems rushing it. Will be real shame if ro16 and maybe ro8 are bo3s.
No matter the format; it'll definately be awesome tournament.

MC white ra, DRG, HuK, moon, and thorzain already! Looks so awesome can't wait to see what other players claw there way into the bracket! Awesome tournament looks like a blast :D

Wow!! Amazing! A stunning list of players! Great job DreamHack, as always! White-Ra FIGHTING!!!

I look forward to the day when athletes only represent themselves (or their clubs), not countries. It's kind of sad lines on a map dictate who people cheer for.
Anyway, this will be a blast. I don't think I've been this hyped up for a happening outside of Korea since Dreamhack Winter 2010. Just need more Korean invites and this time it'll be even better.

DRG to be the favorite for this tournament, too too solid

I think Ret should get an auto-invite since he won Dreamhack Winter 2010!

Ret did not win, Naama won vs MaNa in the finals.

These people that just have to point out the "stupidity" of these feelings and somehow thinks that makes them look smart. Trust me, it doesn't. Fact of the matter is, humans are NOT rational beings, most emotions are NOT rational, so to point out that certain feelings are "not legitimate", is just fucking retarded.
