I think that this tournament's prize distribution is really good. You get 8th and you get 1500$? That's fine. You don't deserve money if you're 9th-16th imo.

Interesting. So you think in a 64-person tourney that only top 8 should get paid? I would think Top 16, since thats the top 25% of the field. It's not like the players here are going to be open bracket masters noobs (like myself xD).

For example, in the tourney you got 2nd in, top 2 getting paid would have been top 25% of field.

Poker tournaments typically payout in this fashion as well (usually top ~30% of field).

The thing is that in a 8 man invitational tournament there's bound to be 8 great players. I'd say give top 3 or 4 money.

In a 64 man tournament held outside of Korea, most of the players are gonna be decent/good but not great.

If you would have a 512 player tournament with most of those players being random BYOC guys at dreamhack, should top 128 get money?

I think that the prize distribution should be relative to the skill of the players instead of the ammount of players.
Thanks to Roberi for taking care of my TL fanclub! Also a thanks to all my fans in and outside my TL fanclub :). Fighting~~!

I wish Dreamhack and SVT (Swedish state television) would officially team up to do the broadcasting for the world...

However, the last Dreamhack during summer, SVT had a free high quality stream online with a studio etc, worked very well. They're doing it again for sure

Not as good as showing it right on TV, but it's nice one of your main TV stations is recognizing and broadcasting SC2 in some way or another .

Out of the 9 currently being shown, MC, White-Ra, HuK, Thorzain, and DRG make me happy

super epic event but i'm curious how moon will perform, he shouldn't be in a good shape, since he will be playing wc3 most of the time for the wcg in december, or not? I'd really love to see him grab another top8 spot or better in an big tourney, but this is a really bad timing for him
well it will be great to watch anyways, DH is awesome!
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

I think it will be an amazing event, but I feel as if theyr too invite heavy at the moment. Its really hard to get new players coming through when tournaments become invite focussed sometimes. Still, big names are cool too I guess, gives the people what they want

The previous Dreamhack had the best international line-up out of all SC2 tournaments. It actually looks like this one could get an even stronger line-up.

I really hope some of the Swedes in Korea will temporarily go back home in order to participate. Players such as Sase, Sjow, Naniwa and Jinro.

Would also be nice if some more unknown local players who are put their hearts into becoming professional SC2 players got a chance. Such as Cytoplasm or Stjarnan.
I can no longer rest under the tree of wisdom, since you have axed down the roots feeding it.

I hope you get some revenge on DRG and take out #1 this tournament

That is a lot of money; a good spread and first place still gets ~$30,000, that is nice to see. I am interested to see the rest of the player list, but the players that have qualified so far look beastly! So much anticipation - maybe another DreamHuK? Or will the Koreans just roflstomp their way to victory..

Don't forget that poker tournements usually have buy-ins

Poker tournaments normally pay out to top 10%, this is 12,5%. (And they have a buy-in.)

There is nothing wrong with this payout structure imo. I think it has a positive influence on the best players in the world to come, and in that way we will have better games to watch.

I wonder if he will/can forfeit his place,I mean WCG will be less than 2 weeks from that lol dunno if he can afford to loose time with travelling.Anyway if he goes he will be the only player that participates to a SC2 event without actually practicing sc2 .

Thank god i placed 2nd in Valencia so that I don't have to apply and be one of 50 lucky chosen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they should also invite you. I doubt there are 50 players I'd rather watch instead of twice as many spoon terran games.

I hope most Korean teams apply for this, also does anyone know if players have to pay for their own travel or not?
