The problem, of course, is that in the new globalized world, with easy travel to other nations for tourism, work, studies, visiting family/friends etc, these same qualities can be (and generally are) harmful in modernized coutries with fairly stable borders. It still has some use in that it fosters competitiveness, which can be good motivation, and success in sporting (and other) events will improve morale and general happiness in a nation, while losing rarely causes the opposite response. | ||

I look forward to the day when athletes only represent themselves (or their clubs), not countries. It's kind of sad lines on a map dictate who people cheer for. Anyway, this will be a blast. I don't think I've been this hyped up for a happening outside of Korea since Dreamhack Winter 2010. Just need more Korean invites and this time it'll be even better. | ||

These people that just have to point out the "stupidity" of these feelings and somehow thinks that makes them look smart. Trust me, it doesn't. Fact of the matter is, humans are NOT rational beings, most emotions are NOT rational, so to point out that certain feelings are "not legitimate", is just fucking retarded. | ||
