I love competition and I'm also constantly checking out my friends' current ranking to know if I got outranked or need to beat their ranking.
Sometimes bnet is quite slow, even for those who have fast connections, and so I thought of this, why not have rollovers to find out what rank/league your friend is currently in, without having to actually go to his profile. So why not provide a feature where you could simply roll over his profile icon to find out his current rank and league?
Or to check your opponent's ranking right away

Why do you think TL can help with this?
I think its a good idea but eh.

It's under blog so I'm not expecting any help, just wanted to share my thoughts. But TL plays a really big role within the starcraft2 community, so, who knows.

if you go onto the PTR, you click the symbol and it takes you to your division and league. same idea in a way. It was mentioned on Reddit and blizz decided to do it.

I don't think this is useful. Just clutters the screen imo, and you should know the league of your realID friends anyway.
If you're serious about this suggestion, you should post it on the battle.net forums.

You should probably post in the B.net forums, if anywhere. Blizzard isn't going to see it here, and they're not going to see it on Reddit, either. The best place to put it, where Blizzard probably has the best chance of seeing it, is on their own forums. :p
That said, I think such a feature would be incredibly useful. It would also be cool, if you could do the same thing for players in a custom game lobby. I've played way too many custom games, that have started before I could look at the ranks of other players, to sate my own curiosity. (Talking about stuff like monobattles, to see if I can troll, or Obs games, to see where other players are around skill-wise).

This is a good idea, often times I want to check my friend's league and division rank without having to wait 5-10 seconds loading all the extra info like total record, trophy's, etc.

Thank you for supporting my idea, Mr. Wiggles. I will definitely post it on Battlenet forums

I like the idea. You can call it clutter but I call bnet 2.0 very underwhelming. It could stand to have a bit more clutter.
Yeah, B.net forums are the place to post this ^^

I'm no programmer but if B.net is already slow wouldn't this put a good deal more stress on the system? On the one hand you don't have to load a whole page, just a small tooltip, but on the other hand there would probably be a lot more queries if it was easier, even accidental ones.

Just a heads up, if I'm not mistaken, the victory/loss screen on PTR shows both players' ranks next to their name.
In terms of showing a friend's rank on the buddy list, a player's league is relatively unchanging and static to have a separate dedicated rollover display, unless you're dying to know their rank within the division. Although, performance-wise it doesn't seem like it would be much of an issue, since they are finding and checking your online friends when you log-in anyway.

just more stuff for b.net to load up. not really important to have that information readily accessible imo

I'd be happier if Blizzard made Bnet faster before implementing this, which is a very, very nice touch and can save quite a bunch of clicks to check out opponents' rank.

Hmm, I thought this would be for the TL forums...

Correct, in PTR there is the league icon next to the names in the score screen, with rank mouseover I believe.
