So, the guy whose seat I took at MLG Anaheim posted (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that due to his work he'd be too busy to attend another SC2 event for awhile, and suggested I transfer my offer to a deserving fan.
So I'm going to offer a spectator pass +1 (a pass for you and a friend) for either: MLG Raleigh, MLG Orlando, MLG Providence, or NASL Season 2 Finals (whichever you choose). I'll also give the contest winner my press/vip access badge, provided MLG doesn't ban me from receiving such passes.
I'd like some suggestions on a contest I can hold to give away the passes. I don't want to make it random, I'd like to give the passes to someone who really is passionate about SC2, esports, and has always wanted to, but hasn't got the chance to attend such an event, because they're all breathtaking experiences.
Anyway, fire away some suggestions! <3

Oh man, I dunno but this is a great idea.
I was planning to attend Providence as my first SC2 / Esports event but don't have the funds and would love to take part in a contest to earn tickets.

How about you just don't be a dick next time?

I'm not sure.. I guess if it's not allowed I won't do it, but if it is allowed I will gladly offer that.

Yeah no problem. I learned how to do it from my years of hard work in ESPORTS. Much like yourself!

Providence will be the first chance I have to go to any ESPORTS event lulz, so I would love something like this...
As for a contest though-- you could have people submit something creative like a video/artwork/something along those lines about why they deserve/want the passes?
|
I would recommend giving the pass away to a dedicated community member (someone who clearly follows the scene well) but ensuring that their +1 is someone who knows nothing of ESPORTS and will be their first time at an event like this (Preferably a female). Small step towards expanding demographics of viewership.
PS. This is a great move

Mattchew, I'm offended!
I am a female who follows the scene well and wants to haul along a male who knows nothing of ESPORTS.

While your post is obviously in jest I would assume (correctly) that the female demographic at these events and in the community is much lower. I would recommend you bringing along another female who knows nothing of ESPORTS, its a harder sale
|
It is a jesting post (half serious though, cause I do want to go to MLG Providence and bring a male friend who really knows nothing about the scene, lolol).
Sadly I don't have many female friends, and the ones I do have wouldn't go lol. Too seriously invested in school and work. T_T
That said-- it would be awesome if someone used the +1 pass to bring someone who'd never had an ESPORTS experiences, and then wrote a blog/did a vlog about that experience for someone completely new.

The whole point of this debacle is that you're not supposed who decide who 'deserves' what based on some arbitrary judgement.
You should make the selection random and also make sure you get some autographed mousepads or w/e for the contest winners at Anaheim.

I like the idea of a "my day in eSports" video submission contest. Have people that love eSports talk about how they consume it daily and WHY they can't get to live events.
I know I consume eSports on my mobile device while I'm helping my daughter fall asleep. She sleeping on my lap while I watch the latest VODs or Day9 Dailies. I don't get to attend the live eSports events due to parental responsibilities and financial commitments. It's not like I'm broke, I have a fantastic job but an eSports weekend is a big commitment in both time/money.
Anyway. I think a video submissions could be cool and it would give others a chance to see how the rest of the community consumes eSports.
One more note: the contest should be community judged.

You can run a contest asking people to design a cheerful to bring to the event.
The funniest/most creative cheerful wins the tickets.

Will you pay for airfare as well? ;D!
Do a nominational process Meaning, the community nominates interested members and from there, the people vote :3 (if the person nominated accepts the nomination and can do this).
*give it to me D: I have no shame in saying I want it

I will bring I sign to Orlando.
