hahahah! at least he's still got XNC.
i'm curious if the major tournaments will keep it in rotation anyway. lots of aspiring pro players can't practice ladder for these tournaments anymore.

I hope for season 4 that they'll add the GSL beach map and Dual Sight, then bring back brand new Metalopolis and Kulas.
Meanwhile, Season 3 maps look like a decent batch.

The ridiculous amount of crying and hatred against Blizzard in this Topic? I Guess that's the prize you have to pay when you make a popular and excellent game that attracts people to a community. Well the cool atmosphere of the Brood War folks is gone. We have to live with that.

LOL. They removed one of the best maps ;/ Why Meta blizzard ?
|
Hahaha, why does it always seem to me that since the game came out, the people at blizzard (and I mean the ones working on sc2) are always trying to make me feel angry and frustrated....How in the world can you make a decision to take out Metalopolis as one of the most played and balanced maps in the game???...i think i'll stop playing this game very very soon...
|
I'm kind of glad they are willing to remove Metalopolis actually. It makes it less likely for something to happen like it did in wc3 where everyone plays the same 4 maps for years. I just hope some good maps replace it later on.
|
so their logic is: 'we have this really good, reasonably balanced map thats been with us for so long cos its so good. So we've decided to remove it. We could just remove close spawn which would balance it, but its easier to just remove the whole map. Enjoy these 4 new maps that are pretty awful, alot of them have shorter rush distances then close spawn meta, but they're new so its all good'
good job! ill be expecting stepes of war back in soon -_-

r.i.p Meta

I actually think they chose the correct 4 maps to remove. They took out the 3 maps that must have been the most vetoed by FAR as well as a map that has been in the pool forever and was getting kind of stale. I 100% expect XNC to be gone with the next map pool update.
The one thing I dont like is the hint about tal'darim being zerg favoured..... Please dont remove tal'darim!!!!!!!!!!

Losing Metal isn't that bad for me, however I wish a GSL map would have been put in it's place. Would have been a better trade, imo.

Sad to see Metal go, it was one of my favorite maps throughout the whole game until now. I can't believe they removed Metal and let a map like Backwater Gulch stay, I hate it. :[

I cant help but feel the people raging super hard at Metal's removal are the same people who played Python all day. I mean yeah its a really good map but just how long were you planning on playing on it? A few more months? A few more years?
As for the replacement maps: We've barely played these maps at all (if it all, I didnt do PTR so I'm not sure if the maps were in there TT) so we can't really know if they're good or not yet. I recall a seething hatred for Shakuras when it was first unveiled as a 1v1 map.

i cannot wait to test everthing out, especially 4v4 maps ^.<
i really hope the the artwork of metalopolis will be used for more maps though, was really brilliant atmosphere.
edit: pic honestly no other map looks that cool xD

I wanted Metalopolis out caus I grew bored of it... But claiming it is biased towards Zerg INCLUDING the close positions is just dumb.
A quick look to TLPD can answer that... and the TLPD version is without close pos...
Anyways...

I remember when the first map rotation happened, I argued that all that bad maps taught us really useful things about balance, even (especially!) the bad ones.
Metal's balance was very spawn position dependent, with close being HARD against Zerg, and cross being better for Z than close air. All four of the new maps are variations on a theme; like Blizz is trying to perfect the One True Map.
1. All maps are rotationally symmetrical, with the exception of Searing Crater, where all positions are equidistant. 2. All maps have a fairly easy third (Nerazim no longer had rock-blocked golds as 3rds), but not quite as easy as non-close Metal. 3. All maps are four-player
It's like, they want to try to perfect the model of Metalopolis. All 4 maps are variants of it, except kind of Searing Crater. Abyssal Caverns being the most obvious.

I'd be okay with Tal'Darim removed if it were replaced with a GSL map.

I am not sad that metalopolis is gone.. To be honest I am happy that it is gone.. First I liked it, but it became so boring to play and never played it again
But anyway even if you weren't in PTR, you can test those maps by playing against AI or your friend since they're in custom maps. IDK what I feel about those That space station map looked fine at first glance

I prefer them removing metalopolis rather than adding rocks on it.
