I've avoided manually MPQ editing my hotkeys out of lazyness (and tendencies to play at PC bangs) - but with the next patch allowing rebinds what are you looking forward to change? Here a few of the ones I am looking forward too:

Backspace is being moved to ` or ~

Capslock shall become either a hotkey (1-0) or work as control/shift
Windows key shall become a hotkey (1-0)
Then adding hotkeys to my mouse buttons

I currently use grid but I am learning its ineffiencies. How could I best optimize grid or should I just not bother?

Or those of you who went ahead and said fuck the patch I want it now - what are your keys that are custom?

For example during beta as random I learned all the standard keys and then switched to grid out of "ergonomics" and because I thought it would be faster. For zerg I am still skeptical due to overlaps but I still think it is.

Alright custom key suggestions go!

ill probably keep it as is since that's waht ive been using since March of beta

some peoples who played BW may bring back their F keys

I will be changing infernal preigniter from "i" to ... anywhere closer to home, I'm sure alot of terrans rejoiced at that too. :D

I can't believe they haven't had the option to change your hotkeys since the beta. I mean whats the point in not allowing it? Quake 1, a game which came out 13 years ago, allowed you to customize any key of your choice.

I use standard keys, I don't like the way my hands bends when I want to do stuff in grid. Standard seems to fit hands better.

Like you said, moving backspace to ` or ~ is gonna be great. Also maybe changing the hotkeys of screen locations because ctrl f5 is not very efficient.

I'm mostly going to remain the same. I might move the cancel and lift/land hotkeys somewhere more convenient though.

I will come up with a new scheme shortly. I'm hoping protoss players will come together and discuss this subject when the patch comes out. Up until the release of the new patch I will probably not think too much about it.

Grid here - Apart from useful things I'll no doubt pick up from this thread, I will move patrol out of harm's way from being confused with attack (T).

Far too many times since switching to grid I've boxed my workers to defend against zerglings in the mineral line, only to have them do a little useless patrol pattern instead

moving ~ to be "lift/land building", I usually play with lights off and cant seem to find my L key when it comes to cruical moments

This! I want my F2-F4 Keys back for save locations.

Other than that I will probably keep everything else as it is.

Nexus to 0, Probe to P, Chrono to a close to the P button, I'll probably change the Observer to O and Collosi to U and off course the F keys. Can't say what else since I don't know all the hotkeys. Might change some of the upgrades.

I'm waiting for this patch to start playing. Haven't played in a long time, but I just can't when I know what's coming. lol

I have set up everything on QWER, and then I use ASD and ZXC if needed. This is an example of how I have set up the hotkeys, not the full description

Make Buildings example:

Q = Basic Building
W = Advanced Buildings
QQ = Make Supply Depot
QW = Make Barrack
QE = Make Refinery
WQ = Make Factory
WW = Make Star Port

Make Units from Barracks
Q=Marine
W=Marauder
E=Reaper
R=Ghost

CommandCenter
Q=Make SCV
W=Call down Mule
E=Scan

Unit Abilities for Ghost
Q=Snipe
W=EMP
E=Cloak
R=Decloak

Basic Commands:
A=Attack move
S=Stop
D=Patrol

Same. In beta I was wishing i could change tank siege back to S instead of E, but I have become so used to it now. Still might change it though.

And F keys of course :p

ya, probe to P is a good idea, esp if you played BW..

i might changed backspace to ~ for the shift+backspace when i play zerg

and maybe infestors to F or something closer than i

I have small hands so I'm pretty comfortable with grid, and I don't mind the overlaps since I never end up doing anything that would cost me the game anyway. I might move the backspace to ` though, even though I already have it mapped to mouse button 3. I might also change Ctrl and Capslock.
