Lift / Land Buildings - F Raise Supply Depot - E (To avoid conflict with double tapping R) These help sooo much if you're Terran.

but if its possible, i might bind 6 7 8 9 -> F1 F2 F3 F4 im used to an fps layout too. wasd to pan the camera might be a bit weird. but i dunno. using 'v' for attack? making 0+9 to t+g for nydus? im just a noob player, so im just thinking about it, i rarely use more than 4 control groups ( :< i wish i could use more ) and town centre on ~ is really good imo. but i didnt even know about backspace, lolol. im too used to 'laVa' as it is, and etc, might make mutalisks M cause thats what i press still. (but now that i think about it, that is a bit far away. what are some zerg bindings?

Control groups are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, q, w, e, r, t. I CAN NOW REACH THEM ALL ![]() All other abilities are made in a compressed grid-style system: Attack is now F. Given how much I press this, it better be on my index finger! Hold Position is now D. NOW REACHABLE. Producing units out of any building is ASDF (G if it makes 5 units). If there's a 2nd row of production (like in an armory), the lower ones are ZXC. Grid-styled, and easy to remember. Liftoff/Land is V for both lifting off and landing. Building addons are Z/X, just like before. Any unit with one activated ability (marauder stim, stalker blink, etc): that ability is activated with C. Any unit with a toggleable ability (liftoff/land viking, cloak/decloak, etc): the ability is toggled both ON and OFF with C Any unit with multiple abilities, they are activated with ZXCV, with C being reserved for toggle abilities. For Ghosts, Hold Fire / Weapons Free is G. Gather is now unbound, make Building hotkeys are the same, but Engineering bay is now D, and Turret is now V, and Refinery is now A. This gives me the ability to use my dominant fingers for the important thing, and access all 10 control groups with ease. I'm getting used to binding my CC, rax, factory, starport, and upgrade buildings all to separate keys and STILL having 5 control groups for army, casters, etc. It's hard now but at some point this should become good.

![]() I basically zoned off a section of my keyboard with: Control groups:1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, y, h, n and then worked everything in: Camera positions: U, J, F3, F4, F5... Save camera positions: Shift+U, Shift+J, Ctrl+F3, Ctrl+F4... Town camera: `(~), M (since my queen hotkey is N) Toggle on/up (e.g. unburrow, siege, transport mode, etc): E Toggle off/down (burrow, unsiege, etc): D Attack spells (except storm): R Special abilities: E Attack upgrade type 1 (melee, vehicle, infantry, ground, etc): E Attack upgrade type 2 (ranged, ship, hi-sec, etc): R Armor type 1: A Armor type 2: S Research speed: C Research range: R Research energy: G Research attack spell: R Research ability: E Attack: A Stop: S Move(Go): G Hold Position: Q Patrol: P ...and various unit/building construction hot keys I play random so it was a bit of a pain getting everything to not overlap, but I managed to do it and it's working pretty well :D there's probably a couple unit/building hotkeys i still want to move around but this is about final Now i'm working on curing myself of the 1-control-group syndrome and splitting off my units to different control groups. it's harder than i expected to go back to using more than 1 control group of units, but it will be supaarrr effective once i get used to it :D

Hydra Den VD, Hatch BD, Infestation Pit VF, NydusNet VR, UltraCave VQ, Lair N. Hydra A, Muta E, Ultra Q, Queen E, Transfuse E, Glio Reconstitution R, Grooved Spines S, Metabolic Boost S, Carapace C, Melee E, Edit Q was a horrible idea for Ultralisks. I was in a game i had 6 base to the Terrans 2, and was banking like 15 thousand, and 5 thousand gas. Lost my whole army to a push was going refill with literally like 25 ultras, but i some how qued up like 15 queens. ended up correcting, but it made a virtually unloose-able situation feel scary. Build = E Chronoboost = R Immortal = E Colossus = R +1 Attack = A +1 Armor = D F1 = save camera view F2 = save camera view F3 = save camera view F4 = idol probe Phoenix = E So far only one I use more than once a game is +1 attack and +1 armor because I never knew the hotkeys for them anyway.

i tried playing YABOT map by just double clicking but then i cant use the hotkeys i created in bnet. Is there anyway of using the custom hotkeys on custom maps which are not in bnet? do I have to edit the MPQ file in order to achieve this?

The menu also lacks the option to rebind the key for queuing orders (shift) and it auto-unbinds way to many keys when unnecessary. For example, if I use the W for some Zerg-shortcut, it auto-unbinds the warp-in key for Protoss. Why can't those two co-exist?

Y - Spawn larvae 6 - Base camera So I press 5 Y (hold shift) 6 click 6 click etc.. Pressing 5 Y is a comfortable shape, my pinkie is usually already resting on shift and 6 is one right of 5, feels natural to me.

General Principles - The more comfortably reachable a (keyboard) button is the better is it as a hotkey. - Map often used commands to the most comfortable buttons. - The ability to easy remember a hotkey (e.g. M for Marine, S for Stalker) has low priority (as it offers no long term gain). Principles Applicance Control Groups: Space, C, V, G, §, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 A - Attack Move S - Stop Unit Abilities: D,F,E,R,T, (Q, W) Building comands (units, upgrades etc): A, S, D, F, E, R, T, (Q, W) So, basically I never move my left hand in an awkward way to reach any hotkey. I admit learning such a totally new setup is difficult but in the end, so I believe, worth it.
