It really depends, i only have 4 keys i would change, ol speed, infester den, ultra den and ultra's, but if the hotkeys are saved locally, I'm not gonna change any since I play from different computers all the time.

Here is what I intend to change.

'S' - Metabolic boost. (Why is it all the way over at 'M'. As far as I'm concerned it's Speed, so it becomes S)

'Q' - Ultralisk
'E' - Pneumatized Carapace (its more useful on using 'E' for ventral sacs)
'R' - Burrow (consistency with the hotkey for units burrow)
'V' - Ventral Sacs

'R' - melee attacks

'W' - Nydus
'F' - Infestation pit (consistency with hotkey for infestor)
'Q' - Ultra cavern

Think that covers the worst of the Zerg hotkeys.

YES! For this, I will actually hand craft a missile launch style red button that will be covered in a little plastic cap, connect it via USB and bind it to liftoff.

Well I was thinking to make all zerg upgrades on Q W E buttons, depends on which position button is - just like grid. So melee attack - Q, missile - W, carapace - E, ling speed - Q, crackling - W, etc..

I'm going to make my macro related hotkeys slightly more standardised so I can switch between the races better.

SCV/Probe/Select Lave/Inject - 'E'
Mule/Chronoboost/Creep - 'C'
All upgrade buildings like a grid layout - QWERTC

Immortal - 'E' damn you 'i' key damn you to hell.

I'm so used to the way the hotkeys are now, that changing anything to radically would completely screw up my game. Plus most of the hotkeys for Zerg are reasonable, just a few are in stupid places.

You can just put it on the classical keybinds. They're like exactly the same, probe is conveniently on the P button

Yeah, but chrono is still on C and having nexus on 0 and probe on P it's really uncomfortable to hit C.

I'm considering using P for probe and pylon again..... but im too used to E now. Would be nice to not have nexus bound to lower control group so I can free it up for units though.

That's really about it. I just really really want the location hotkeys back to where they were for BW. I miss them so much and it's so hard to play without them.

I'm too used to the standard set up to change much if anything. Maybe Immortals, Plantenary Fortresses and Lift? Other then that i'm ok with everthing else.

I"m changing baneling explode from "Z" to something on the far right side of the keyboard. A few times know I have accidentally exploded my banelings trying to morph more lings

Nah, it just look and it looks like a modified grid layout. I'm def loving this idea... I dont have prior BW or rts exp so its not like I have lots of habits to break, so I've been working with grid as a noob and even though it's decent for the most part, it def gets awkward reaching down for chrono and other things can make for some weird hand angles.

This seems like it could flow nicely, like you can just bounce along on the hotkeys and jump down when its time to build something, then boom, right back into going across the hkeys.

i've gotten pretty accustomed to the default hotkeys except for maybe shift click groups and cycling through groups/units

so
shift will be changed to one of my many mouse keys
backspace to cycle will be changed to space since I dont need to find out where my recent zergling popped out of my 5 hatcheries...
and maybe Infestation pit changed from I to F

I am going for a modified grid layout which I got comfortable with in Beta but have stopped using since release because of the problems with changing the MPQ files.

Z is going to be moved for Zealot, ill try and move any of the bottom row grid keys so i can stay on the top two rows and number keys.the only bottom row keys i kept last time i did this were the cloak keys. Oh and definitely backspace is being moved.

The big problem i had from the last time i did this was the warp key but since I now use a hotkey for warpgates probably not such a problem ...maybe capslock or tab though one of them will be control for sure.

Oh and I like having my spells accessible by my index finger so will be having those near my army hotkeys in the middle.

I also like having the same keys for loading unloading/rasing lowering/taking off landing etc, makes changing race a lot easier.

Definitely doing upgrades like most are saying.


Edit: Seeing carefoots comments to Day(9) its easier to change if you havent got it ingrained after doiong it for years even if its easier. Took me a long time (2 weeks or so) to get used to using an automatic car after driving a stick shift for years (stopping my left foot going for the clutch) but I can easily switch between either now without even thinking. Its amazing how the mind works.

I'm going to do something like was already mentioned by someone but to a lesser extent. I'll put all the upgrades ( I'm zerg ) on Q, W, E and possibly R if it's needed. For example, the melee attack, ranged attack and armor upgrades from the evolution chamber will be on Q, W and E in the same order. This way I can easily remember and quickly hit every upgrade hotkey. Because those are the only ones I don't know yet.
That's the 2nd time in a week I've seen someone sig a quote from this GD and I have never witnessed a sig quote happen in my TL history ever before. -Najda
