Since I have a fascination of the mediocre I asked myself "which maps are the worst maps ever made?". Since I haven't been around for that long, however, I never have experienced truly aweful maps.
So that's why I turn to my fellow Teamliquid:ers for help. What maps are, according to you, the worst ever made and why?
To get things started, I'll list a few that I have gathered are definately among the worst ever made:
* DMZ - This horrible map had permanent disruption webs covering large areas of it which ultimately lead to all TvZ games turning into SCV rushes.
* Demon's Forest - The center of this map caused certain units to bug out and thus caused unnessesary frustration to many players.
* Mercury - Although I haven't actually figured out why (haven't played on it yet, tbh), this map is a nightmare for any Protoss player who isn't named Reach.
* Alchemist - Not only is it bland and ugly, it's also asymetrical and a nightmare to face Zerg on due to the many directions 'lings can swarm into the main from.

DMZ was the worst, it turned every game into scv rush vs. 5 pool.

That was an imbalanced map but no where near the worst of all time. Games were decent on that map.
My vote goes to luna. Games were so boring on that map.

i always hate incubus.. but its probably far away from being the worst map..
but i hated it.. + rivarly was so shitty, too. T_T

DMZ was hilarious and they removed it before it lost its novelty

DMZ definitely takes the cake, even being a 2v2 map and all..
Distances were so short that scv rushes were incredibly powerful (distances were quite a bit shorter on than on Blood Bath I believe) and only a handful of games even went past the 6 minute mark. Also the webs in the center didn't really work out too well - They didn't make the game any more interesting and watching two players try to micro their two armies against each other in the middle was like watching two disabled kids fight. Just a horrible, imbalanced, uninteresting map that I'm glad got removed mid-season

Ashrigo seems pretty unplayable. There are just sooooooo many old maps to pick from. We should set up a poll once we reach a consensus on the worst 10 or so. Then host a tournament using only those maps if we want to be really sadistic.
Edit: heheh

I loved Ashrigo (Mutarushed my way to 1145 ladder back in the day if i remember correctly)
I somehow always hated two maps most of all
Jim Raynor's Memory And Neo Jungle Story
I have no idea why i hate these maps so much, just never really had fun when i was playing them

from my personal point of view it has to be monty hall... i always hated that map and i still do. i didn't like watching games on it and i hated to play it. that map was just a horrible piece of starcraft history to me.

In recent history, Battle Royal has to win. It was totally unwelcome in the 08-09 PL's already Zerg-happy map pool.
Demon's Forest takes the cake though…if only for that simply godawful game between Yarnc and FrOzean? there in group stages. The worst game of professional BW I have ever seen.

DMZ or Demon's Forest
Other maps actually had good games on them, these maps are just fundamentally flawed. Plasma/Battle Royal/Monty hall is just completely undeserved. Mercury was pretty cool too besides playing PvZ (reach vs oov anyone?). can't speak for some maps like geometry but i'm pretty sure they weren't that bad, they were at least playable.
DMZ or demon's forest are just downright unplayable.
edit:alchemist would be a close third
