I am not planning to overclock, stream, or use SLI/Crossfire Monitor: Dell 24 Gaming Monitor – S2417DG Core: Intel i5-8400 2.8GHz 6-Core Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO MOBO: Gigabyte – Z390 UD ATX LGA1151 RAM: G.Skill – Aegis 8 GB (1x8 GM) DDR4-3000 GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB XC Case: Corsair Carbide 275R PSU: RMx 550 W 80 Does this look reasonable and not under/overkill? Thanks!

You do need two RAM sticks (so 2x4GB or 2x8GB) for proper RAM performance could also save some money on the PSU since that kind of build uses about 200 watts at full load

They're keeping the same socket until like 2021. The main question is which boards will get proper bios updates and support for newer gen CPU's.

I'll repeat an earlier comment that I had, I still believe this will be the end of Intel's domination for at least 1-2 years. The only thing I'm not sure about is if AMD can overcome Intel's marketing. Intel is still disgustingly richer than AMD if you check their revenue. Otherwise, judging by price and performance, Intel is so far behind that it's scary. Ryzen 3000 series offers budget and performance at the same time. This is what I've read so far: Ryzen 9 3850X—16C/32T, 4.3GHz to 5.1GHz, 135W TDP, $499 Ryzen 9 3800X—16C/32T, 3.9GHz to 4.7GHz, 125W TDP, $449 Ryzen 7 3700X—12C/24T, 4.2GHz to 5.0GHz, 105W TDP, $329 Ryzen 7 3700—12C/24T, 3.8GHz to 4.6GHz, 95W TPD, $299 Ryzen 5 3600X—8C/16T, 4.0GHz to 4.8GHz, 95W TDP, $229 Ryzen 5 3600—8C/16T, 3.6GHz to 4.4GHz, 65W TDP, $178 Ryzen 3 3300X—6C/12T, 3.5GHz to 4.3GHz, 65W TDP, $129 Ryzen 3 3300—6C/12T, 3.2GHz to 4.0GHz, 50W TDP, $99 Link: https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-ryzen-3000-release-date-price-specs-and-everything-we-know/ If I decide to replace my i7-5820k processor this year, I'll replace it with Ryzen 3000 series. However, it's not high on my purchase list in terms of priority right now.

My build is mostly from 2011, except for the GPU which I got in 2016 Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 CPU: i5 2500k Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Cooling: XIGMATEK Gaia SD1283 120mm Long Life Bearing CPU Cooler LGA1150 Haswell Compatible Ram: CORSAIR ValueSelect 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) PSU: XFX Core Edition PRO450W (P1-450S-XXB9) 450W GPU(upgraded in 2016): EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC GAMING, 4GB GDDR5 Storage: Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III I am not planning to overclock, stream, or use SLI/Crossfire What is your monitor's native resolution? 1920x1080 144hz Why do you want to upgrade? What do you want to achieve with the upgrade? I got help from this thread back in 2011 and you guys were awesome! I recently got hooked on APEX Legends and want to get more FPS (144 consistent if possible) Basically more FPS in APEX and like games in future What is your budget? 400 or less - Might just be looking at a MOBO/CPU/RAM upgrade recommendation from you guys for now and then eventually upgrade the GPU in a year or two What country will you be buying your parts in? USA - Can drive to local microcenter or frys less than 1 hour away If you have any brand or retailer preferences, please specify. I prefer INTEL over AMD because that's what I've grown up using, but open to suggestions.

I also want to upgrade my computer about 300-400€ aswell just with mobo/cpu/ram but I will wait few months because of AMD Ryzen 7nm (1-3 months away). If you really insist on Intel, you can upgrade now. I feel there will be a "breakthrough" when AMD 7nm arrives just as i5-2500k did in 2011.
