Steelseries keyboards don't. There is a lot of different layouts for the europe, eastern europe and parts of asia use a more similar look to the 6gv2. My point was that most use a large enter key and maybe this was an attempt to create a more universal appeal. It was just a theory.
I was referring to the physical layout of which Europe uses 1. Hence the term "EU layout" and "US layout" on the Das Keyboard, for example.

Europe uses more (quite a lot) than 1 physical layout. Show me what layout you are refering to. Is it some lazy term for the UK one? It doesn't really matter to my point though.

Im thinking of getting my first mechanical keyboard and saw an ad for Zowie Celeritas Pro for 99€ with FI/SE key layout.
Read some good things about it and the brown switches, except that the key coating is nylon or smthing and gets dirty pretty easily. Im wondering should i throw 40 more euros for the Filco Majestouch-2 Tenkeyless with also brown switches? Would the 40 euros be a good investment?
Also considering the Steelseries mechanicals, but would the browns be a good way to start with mechanical keyboards? ^^
Edit: The Filco is also in FI/SE layout which is a plus and also I could choose between linear, tactile and clicky switches. Would rather not have as clicky, heard they make the board louder when typing.

I'm not sure if the quality has improved from their Cherry Blues but I like that matte finish. Checked the Razer store and its currently out of stock and I'm still trying to find reviews about it but no feedback yet on its durability. Your thoughts would really be appreciated :D stick with filco Care to elaborate as to why? Is it Quality? Ergonomics? I'm not much of a Macro keys fan since I don't play much MMO's but I'm liking the lights and the function keys. Quality yes Ergonomics yes Reliability yes backlit no Better board overall yes, razer blackwidows just suck in build quality. If you look at reviews filco tops razer 10-1.
Thanks for the feedback
Really appreciate it
It means that lights doesn't mean anything. Well it really doesn't to me since I rarely look at the keyboard. I just think that it would look cool but Quality over physical appearance

It doesn't really matter to my point though. The number of keys and the shape and positions is the same across all European layouts. This is what he meant with one "physical" layout. Steelseries fiddles with the shape and position of the Enter, Backspace and right Shift key for seemingly no reason.
I remember I had a keyboard in the 1990s, which came with replacement keycaps for a few different EU layouts, which is possible because there is really only one type of EU keyboard.

You are wrong. There are countries in Europe that uses different physical layouts. Not just different keys. That's all I'm saying. Maybe there are some general "eu layout" but it's certainly not the only one that's used in europe and therefore I feel it's a poor description. In any case it's not relevant to the point I was making so I'll just stop with that, believe what you will.

In any case it's not relevant to the point I was making so I'll just stop with that, believe what you will. The old MS-DOS manual I have in my book shelf has pictures for over a dozen EU layouts and all look the same. Only the US layout is different.
About why Steelseries did what they did, I actually have the same suspicion as you. I guess they tried to make sure that they can use the same Enter key across all the layouts without anyone bitching about it. US customers can hit the Steelseries Enter key with their pinky in the same positions they do with a normal US layout keyboard. The same is true for EU people. But this makes either the Backspace key or the right Shift key weird for both US and EU.
For Steelseries as a manufacturer, the difference between US and EU is only the shape of the left Shift key. For Filco etc., there is additionally the difference in the Enter key. So Steelseries save some money because of a lesser variety of shapes for key-caps. Also, perhaps under the left Shift key of the US layout, there is no stabilizer, but instead a second Cherry switch? With a design like that, they could use the exact same physical keyboard for all regions, which the other manufacturers cannot do.

I would love to see a protoss players color scheme for hotkeys customized at wasdkeyboards.com if anyone has time. I'm just not creative enough to figure out the right color schemes.

For me personally, I think I could live with it, but I would rather choose a different mechanical keyboard. I use the right Shift key when typing capital letters with the left hand, and the shorter right Shift on the Steelseries keyboard would be annoying. On the other hand, I guess the Enter key could be easier to hit than on a normal EU keyboard.
My main problem would be, I often have to use a different PC with a normal EU layout, so I would rather buy something with that layout, not the Steelseries layout.

Just got my new Leopold tenkeyless with red switches to go with my Filco with browns. Omggg I fucking love these switches!! This was the switch type I wanted back when I bought my Filco, but they were neigh impossible to find at the time. Seriously, playing Starcraft on this thing is so much fun! I don't even hear myself pressing the keys since I've gotten used to where the actuation point would be using my Filco. I can definitely understand why reds are considered the best switch type for gaming, and I would say for RTS's especially.
If anyone is looking to get a new board, I would highly recommend looking into EliteKeyboards.com. They currently have basically any combo of fullsized or tenkeyless boards with any cherry MX switch type (even reds and clears!!). Also they're currently stocking all the boards in white as well as the usual black!
