anyone have any knowledge about the ABS M1 Mechanical keyboard, they were sold last year but stopped. I'm thinking of buying a used one for $30-40 but the reviews are like 50/50 on it.

If its not a good keyboard, anyone know where to buy decent mechanical keyboards in canada

Typing on membranes now is like trying to have sex with a mashed potato with melted cheese.

I got myself a Ducky Shiny the last week or so, highly recommend it.

I have always used rubber keyboards, I also have a q-senn dt35.

The mechnical feel (i have cherry mx brown switches) is just, different.
Honestly do not regret the $150(AU) i paid at all.

Got it from mechkeyboards.com, they were very fast also.

I just picked up a DAS Model S Professional from NCIX (last week). Big improvement over the rubber-dome keyboards I've been using. When I type, the urge to type as fast as I can, just to hear the clicking, becomes almost impossible to resist. Reminds me of the typewriter I learned to type on.

I've never worked on one personally but I've heard great things about them.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823224001 has a bunch of mini-reviews from when the product was still sold there.
Might makes right.

Are you getting good ol accuracy with it?

Haven't had any accuracy problems so far.

I don't know where to ask this and I'm very frustrated. I Bought a mechanical keyBoard in June. Two weeks after the warranty expired the B key shorts out. Is there a way to repair it (Or a Better place I should Be asking this question)?

It's very frustrating to have to B ctrl v every time I want to write B. It's the only fault of the keyBoard. Everything else works perfectly fine. It feels great to type on and I love having a mechanical keyBoard. But this has Been one shitty first experience. Do I Buy a new one or is there a place to have it repaired or can I do it at home or what... so frustrated.

I don't know what's wrong with it, only that there isn't any obvious damage and that B is the only key that does not work.

Nice colour scheme. How are the o-rings?

How do you remove switches? I'm only finding tutorials to pull off caps and I'd rather not break it. Do I need to buy a new switch? I can just pull off the scroll lock switch and replace the b switch with it.

Well try here:
http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:7486

I think you need to work out if your keyboard is plate or switch mounted first.
But this is rapidly approaching the limit of my knowledge, so good luck

You can try asking at Geekhack, they will know the solution and are normally nice but sometimes a little troll like.

Before I got new keys i didn't have the o-rings and they were louder, due to the clacking noise that was made when the key actually struck the bottom of the chassis of the keyboard. With the o-ring it's a lot quieter, but you still get that tactile click feeling that's classic of mechanical keyboards. I like it a lot.

ok so can someone compare me that difference between cherry blacks and just a normal rubber dome? i see people say how hard blacks are to hit but i mean really i highly doubt its that hard..

I didn't notice any difference between my old and new keyboards when changing from rubber-dome to 6gv2, which has blacks.

It feels like its slightly harder to push down rubber domes. But the Blacks preserve their resistance over the whole stroke (if that makes sense) whereas the rubber only resist at one point.

So if you are used to spamming on a rubber dome blacks should be no trouble for you.

That explains it pretty well. You may want to lubricate it as well.
