I bought a Logitech G300, but want to replace it since I don't feel like it's very accurate, and also the small form factor bothers me a bit (I'm not much of a claw grip person). It's unfortunate though because I LOVE the extra buttons all over the top, instead of on the side, which is why I bought it; using other mice I've found it really awkward to hit buttons with the same fingers that are supposed to be controlling/moving the mouse, whereas with the G300 it's just more buttons to click with your pointer fingers. Apparently, I'm weird, because searching for what other people have said about it:

My questions is, does anyone with experience using G300 find the location of the side buttons awkward, them being on top of the mouse rather than the side? I don't really use those buttons in game but I've read that that is one negative aspect of the mouse.

The G300 is the cheapest, but it looks a bit unwieldy, especially all those buttons on the left and right keys.

Anyway, are there other mice with similar button layouts? I have a Sensei as well, which I love because the control feels absolutely perfect, but those side buttons are hard for me to use. Not sure what the perfect mouse for me is.

If it makes you feel better, I also don't like using thumb buttons. I'd like a ring finger button like in the three button mice from before there was a mouse wheel.

lol I just bought another Zowie MiCO for my laptop in the KT Rolster version. The squeeky mousewheel is starting up like my old blue one. Time to break it in I guess xD.

Hey all,

I'm a palm gripper, looking for a decent SC2/Dota2 mouse.

Right now, I'm using a new MX518 which will be moved to another machine (which is in need of a mouse) when I buy a new one.

I previously used a G5 (broke), then a G500 (for RMA but is taking very very very long) and find the MX518's shape too small. The shell of the G500 seems slightly larger and it seems to reduce my hand fatigue. I've noticed that with the 518, I start experiencing pain after playing where with the G500, I didn't.

I'm looking at a Deathadder 2013 which overall seems like a decent palmgrip mouse, but I don't know if this is a decent mouse for Dota2, especially that I see many pro gamers binding inventory items to their mice.

There doesn't seem to be a Dota2 progamer gear thread. Has anyone seen what mice do pro Dota2 players use with regards to the mouse bindings?

Thanks!

@mdamda:

I was always too lazy to try out Dota2 so I might be suggesting something stupid, but did you look into binding spells to the mouse wheel events?

I played like that in various FPS games. You can use the mouse wheel as if it's three buttons in games that don't do anything useful with the wheel. It's three possible events, mouse-wheel-down, mouse-wheel-up, and clicking.

In Q3, I had it like this as an example:

scrolling down: select Railgun
scrolling up: select Plasma gun
clicking wheel: select Lightning gun

Thanks for the input, though I think I'd prefer using physical buttons - I've tried using scroll up, scroll down and middle mouse click but those don't seem to work for me.

To be honest, the MX518 isn't so bad except the mouse shell is really a tad bit small.

I don't seem to notice that the G500/G5 tracked much worse - feels the same to me. I guess I'm not so picky in terms of sensor accuracy or something...

ey, I am building a new gaming rig, and I need a mouse, so I have decided on the Razer Deathadder (although it was close between deathadder, Logitech g500 and Razer Naga ) But I need to decide on the original Deathadder or the 2013 version.
Here is my problem. I would definitely get the 2013 version, because or higher dpi and 4g lazer, but 1. I don't like the rubber grips on the 2013, I'm a smooth sorta guy and 2. my entire gaming rig is red. So my case has red LEDS, and so does my keyboard, so if I got the 2013 edition, it would have green LEDS, which would clash I'm a little bit OCD with colors :D So I found this version of the original Deathadder http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Original-Deathadder-Cross-Fire-Red-Edition-Gaming-mouse-Fast-Free-shipping-in-stock/803343_868940256.html. It is a red LED version of it made for the game Cross Fire (which I had never heard of, nor do I care that it says CF on the mouse) but I was wondering if there was that much difference between this version and the 2013 version. The CF version is just like the original Deathadder, with a 3.5g lazer and 3500 DPI. So mainly I was wondering if I would REALLY notice that much of a difference between 3500 and 6400 DPI? I will mainly use it for sc2, but I will definitely play other games with it (Battlefield 4 :D). The CF version is also quite a bit cheaper, and I'm on a 16 year old budget Does anybody still have the original Deathadder that can give me feedback on the original vs the 2013?Again I don't really like the grips on the side (I have tried them and I feel they are too sticky) and the color is sorta important But I can turn off the leds on the 2013 version if I absolutely have to.

Thanks a bunch <3 and sorry that it is a very long question

More DPI is not better, don't fall for marketing hype. The best accuracy you can get would be to set mouse 1:1 so that one count on the sensor moves 1 pixel on your screen (you can't get better than this in terms of the smallest area that is selectable) and then use DPI to set sensitivity. There's little reason to use more than 2000 or so on a 1920x1080 screen, i'd consider that very very high, though some people have different standards you should never exceed 3.5k almost unarguably

DA 3.5g (seems to be the one you're looking at) is slippery plastic sides, can be a big pain to grip. It was one of the biggest complaints

On 1920x1080 screen, 2000dpi means you cross the entire screen with less than 1 inch of movement (1920 pixels wide screen, 2000 pixels moved from 1 inch of movement at 2000dpi)

^But your goal isn't to move the mouse with as little movement as possible, it's to be accurate and relaxed in the arm/wrist. Accuracy and comfort goes up with lower sensitivities, you may not want to use 600 or 800dpi but there's little reason to ever use over three times that.

Ah ok thanks :D I had heard that anything over 2000 dpi is useless, so I should be fine with the old version :D And it's cheaper, so that's always a plus Thanks again

Thanks. Any other mouse I should be considering? Support says I have a G500s coming in the mail, but they've already dallied for 3 months so I'm not hopeful if I'll get it before 2014.

I have access to a small subset of the Roccat and SteelSeries line but no Mionix/Zowies around here so more specialized brands are out.

1. What's your grip style?
I generally use claw or fingertip style

2. What's your sensitivity?
I normally use my mouse at around 2600 DPI

3. What's your maximum budget?
around $60, but the lower the better

4. Do you want additional buttons?
If the mouse has them, its good, but definitely not something I use often enough to care\

5. What games do you play?
I play a few MMO's, I play Starcraft II occasionally, and LoL

6. Do you mind angle snapping?
I don't mind, but I prefer not to have it.

7. Other relevant information:
Basically I am only looking for a new mouse because my deathadder's scroll wheel has started to act up, and its off warranty. I don't mind larger mice either.

Thanks in advance!

zowie ec1/ec2 evo are decent choices, probably the best optical sensor, is available in two sizes (ec1 is like DA, ec2 a little smaller) and black rubber surface or glossy white.
