Budget: $600. That's a strict budget which encompasses everything from the parts to the case to the monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, and OS. That is all the money I'm able to spend on this from the ground up - I will not be able to spend $605. Resolution: The higher the better, but I'm not that concerned with it. I'd be comfortable with something like 1280x1024. Usage: Mostly gaming. It doesn't need to be an absolute beast, but I'd like for it to be able to run any modern strategy game, RPG, or MOBA without stuttering - if that means lower settings, that's okay. Upgrade cycle: I have no idea. This is my first build. Time: Now. Overclocking: I'm fine with the idea, sounds cool, but it's more of a means to an end. I'm not attached to the idea - whatever gives me the most bang for my buck. Operating System: Yes, I'd like the bare-bones edition of Windows 7. I think I'd like a 64-bit version, though I'm not clear on the practical distinction. I'm a student; I've heard a rumor that you can get a student version for $30, but I don't know how to go about verifying that. Second GPU: I have no idea. If it fits within my price range and provides higher performance, that would be great. Store: I'm in the contiguous U.S. I figured I'd buy from Newegg, but if that's not the best place, I'll go with whatever's better. Thanks in advance!

All P67 motherboards support unlocked multipliers and therefore support k-series processor overclocking. There's a few which have dodgy BIOSes but they're all capable of it.

Unless you have USB3 devices, it's not really going to help. Those would typically be newer external hard drives, high-performance USB flash drives, A/V capture interfaces, maybe digital cameras/camcorders--essentially anything that would actually need a higher data rate than USB2 can support.

CPU: I5 2400 Mobo: Asrock H61m-S Ram: G.skill 1333mhz CL9 Case: Xigmatek Asgard II PSU: Super Flower Amazon 450W HDD: Spinpoint f3 1tb GPU: XFX 6950 1gb Optical drive: Liteon dvd/rw 568,14 euro Leaves you some money to get a better case, mobo or that network adapter. you could allso downgrade de GPU to a 6870 if you need that extra 50 euro. Hey Madoga, thanks a lot for this build! I will tell my brother about this build and see what he can do to make it happen, since it seems better and cheaper than the prebuilt options.

doesnt have an os though, but usually that isnt a problem The prebuilt ones didn't have an OS either so thats fine. But could you tell me how much worse the build would be with a downgrade for the cpu and the gpu? For example: CPU: Phenom II X4 955 Boxed Mobo: Gigabyte GA-870A-USB3 Rev. 3.1 GPU: HD 6870 That would be around 70-80 Euros cheaper, but would it affect playing games (not necessarily on highest settings) much? An would the build be viable with this changes?

The Phenom II X4 should not be less expensive than the G850. The Pentium G850 is nearly identical to that of a core i3 2100 and is much better than a Phenom II X4 given that you don't need the two extra cores. Keep in mind very few games take advantage of four cores, most still only do two.

He doesn't have to play games on the highest settings, but would this work out for about two years with lets say medium settings?

1- Can the H61 Mobo be used with a i7 2600 cpu? 2.- Does the H61 support 2 GPU or just 1? 3.- The Geforce GT 450 is the best GPU I can get on my city. (85$) Is it worth it or should i just wait for the delivery of a better gpu from another city. (It takes several days in Bolivia). I'm planning on using dual monitors.

I'm planning on using dual monitors. 1) Yes (although I must ask if you need a i7-2600 over an i5-2500) 2) No (If you're using a gts450, why are you considering SLI?) 3) It's a good value for $85. But it can't handle dual monitors (if you're trying to game)

I don't want to SLI. It's just that Bolivian sellers will tell you anything just to charge you more money. So I want to know the facts. So If I'm using just one GPU I'm looking for GTX 465 and up right?

So If I'm using just one GPU I'm looking for GTX 465 and up right? dont get a 465 ever. its the half retarded brother of the 460. that said if you buy a good cpu like the i7 then ya, i wouldnt consider anything below a 460 or 6850/5850. other slightly more expensive options are the 470/6870 or a 560ti/6950 as the next step
