I don't know if it's my biased search results from previous hardware searches, but googling 6670 or 7750 brings up the appropriate Video cards.

Just come back when you are actually going to be buying the parts

at that moment we can tell you precisly what is best for your budget

What does not being able to put together a good build have anything to do with being able to read and search Newegg? Why are you even Googling when you can just search for it on Newegg?

And when you're not even buying until January to February, I am not going to link to a specific product since the pricing and availability is not static. Something better can come a long, it could be out of stock when you are going to buy, or a comparable / better product goes on sale.

I never mentioned that a 128gb SSD is pointless. I mentioned that 128gb is not a lot of space hence it probably isn't the brightest idea to just have the SSD and no HDD for storage unless you only plan on playing a few games and doing absolutely nothing else.

You didn't put any effort into your post so only so much can be said...

The entire list sucks. Never take hardware advice from your friend ever again.

FX4100 sucks... A core i3 is significantly better for gaming. Even the older Phenom II X4 is better.

Motherboard is too expensive... especially when you can't afford good products elsewhere.

Gaming does not come close to using 8gb.... yet alone 16gb. Plus 1866MHz memory is a stupid way to throw away money since it only provides 1-2 FPS over the typical 1600MHz cas9 memory which can be had for like $30. Throw your money away on the CPU, GPU, and every other component first before on stupid memory...

Kingston SSDNow V+200 sucks in comparison to Samsung 830, Samsung 840, Intel 520, Crucial M4, and a dozen more SSDs that can be found for the same price or less. And unless you plan on doing nothing but play only Starcraft II and a few other games, I'd suggest you get a HDD since 128gb is very little space.

7750 is better than the 6670 for the same price or less. These two cards aren't exactly powerful enough to play the latest games on reasonably high settings at a comfortable framerate though... so depending on the games you are going to play, I'd suggest you to consider putting off the SSD until later and spending more on the GPU.

Bolded the alternatives, since you skipped everything after the first sentence that got you offended.

If I'm so incompetent that I can't put together a good build, what makes you think I know what the hell he's talking about when he says 6670, 7750? I had found the ram by googling and I thank him for that but giving just a combination of 4 numbers isn't really helpful. And the hard drive recommendations weren't even alternatives because right afterwards he said that getting an SSD is pointless at 128gb.

So you claim half his post is "meh," and then you get mad when we show you that he listed suggestions in everything, saying that you don't know enough... It's not so much that we think you know what he is talking about so much as you deliberately saying "half his post is meh" when he answered everything that he criticized...

This is what I was saying... literally 5 minutes of googling would find some of this information. "Best budget gaming GPU," a basic SSD search, etc. would all be very informative.

Edit: I probably should have just mentioned searching on newegg as well, lol. Forgot about that.

Hey guys decided to shell out for a capture card. I'll be starting off using only 1PC but eventually I'll convert my old rig into a dedicated streaming tower. I need some advice on which card to get as I have absolutely no clue. One of the games I stream is super CPU intensive so the cpu usage of the card must be minimal. I'm willing to spend up to around 200-250 and I've been looking at a AVerMedia C985 which retails for around 220AUD. I'm using OBS 720p @ 30fps atm but hoping for 1080p at some point.

I think that's currently the most recommended capture card. Then again, it's also newer & I wouldn't be surprised if Avermedia's competitors were also coming out with new stuff. Capture cards seem to be one of those areas that's in the process of being developed. I don't think you'd be going wrong with the C985 though.

There was a thread specifically about that card in the tech support forum. I didn't follow it that closely, but maybe you can get some of your generic answers there.
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=366599&currentpage=2

Make sure the card is compatible with the software you use though. I think there was some mention of the Avermedia C985 not working with FFsplit. I'm not a streamer, so... I think that was about as helpful as I could be.

Thanks MisterFred.

Have another question: I had a friend that owns a net cafe come to me asking me to draft a list of parts that he could upgrade all their systems to. I think i've come up with a good list but I figure there's no harm in running it by TL's experts.

A couple of notes, he doesn't need an OS or HDD or optical as everything boots from a master image on a server and they already have 1080p monitors. Because it's an internet cafe a large variety of different games will be played from new FPS games like BF3, COD, to RTS games like SC2+HoTS. Also he'd like them to last as long as possible to save money so 3yr+ upgrade cycle. Also his current rigs are built with cases that come with pre-attached psus of dubious quality not to mention they have a single 120mm rear exhaust fan that tends to cause components to overheat, so I figured upgrading those would be in his best interest as well.

Buying from www.pccasegear.com.au and www.pcdiy.com.au if possible.

My list:
cpu: i5-3300 $180
mobo: GIGABYTE B75M-D3V $63
gpu: 7870 2GB POWERCOLOR $226
ram: 8GB SINGLE 1600 KINGSTON $38
case: Antec 300 $63
psu: Silverstone Strider 500W ST50F-ES $59

Total: $648

for keeping the price as low as possible, i'd suggest i3's

they will basicly perform the same for gaming and be cheaper

Bitfenix merc alpha is cheaper and a good case

rest is fine (even if for a internet cafe i would just get hd7850's, should be enough for most games and would cost less too, the cafe that sponsors my team only have 6770's in their pc's and it's not like they weren't overbooked all the time)

Considering building a new build. Here's some non-critical components that I'm not sure on:

NZXT Gamma (still the best $50 or less case out there?) Walmart.com was the cheapest when i bought it 2 years ago. I know it's a love/hate case but i love the look.

RAM
CL8, 1.5v Corsairs Ballstix 2 x 2gb:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Suggested&Description=20-148
Seems really awesome to find some cl8s at 1.5v at the low price range.

PSU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026
$35. 32A on 12v rail, that's higher than the neoeco, which is $5 more. Seems to be the best PSU under $50, or rather, the most 12v amperage you can get under $50.

I'm not sure on HDD but I'm seeing caviar blacks go for $10 on ebay on 80gb. I've had my current caviar blue for 2 years and only used 40gb on it, so dont need more than 80gb if I'm going by 50% storage.

Everything else I either know what to get or not sure on. I'm not sure if I'm going to go with another phenom x4 or i5-k. probably phenom x4 since it's 25-33% the price used vs used/new vs new. i know its a shame to ever go amd instead of intel but the phenom x4 performance is more than enough for my needs (streaming sc2) and a nice c3/zosma would overclock far enough to make it a far better choice at it's price point (if anyone who streams has gone from phenom x4 to i5 could tell me how it went, id love to hear your perspective).

NZXT Gamma wasn't anything special unless you were specifically looking for that look. The NZXT Source 210 is probably better though you can't expect much from these cheapass low end chassis. They're all basically using 0.6mm steel and hard mount hard drives (or close enough to hard mounting). If you don't care about vibrations, then don't worry but if you do then thick and dense build material is important and suspended hard drives are essential.

Figured I might as well have my build checked. Form factor is mini-ITX because I'm going to take this w/ me a lot (like every week or so) so it had to be small. It's for gaming, mostly LoL, some SC2 and I wanted to have the option to play pretty much every game smoothly (not caring about settings)

I know Vengeance RAM is not needed, but it was just 1 euro more expensive and generally sells better 2nd hand (in past experiences that is the case, might have been coincidence though)

So, are there any big flaws in the build or is it pretty much ok?

Really? I think plenty of them do. The chipset itself does 4 ports, so most split that to 2 on back and 2 on a header, like most other mid-to-low end boards.

Anyway, AsRock's site seems to indicate that there's a USB 3.0 header for the one in question:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/B75M-ITX/?cat=Specifications

If you're not using the 3.5" bay, you can also try Silverstone Sugo SG05 or SG06 instead, which are smaller than CM Elite 120. They include a power supply that's probably somewhere around Corsair CX in quality (decent, not that good). Performance is a little better too. Anandtech has a review on SG05, Fractal Design Node 304, and CM Elite 120. Some results here.

The build looks pretty much okay.

P.S. I hear there are plans for more highlighting in near future. Feels weird now.

I meant ASRock boards, the DGS/GL/M ones don't have it. Thats why ASRock has Rev 2 boards of GL and M.

Also when did you get blue poster status'd?

Highlighted poster. Makes his answers stand out. It finally came over from the strat forum. It's been suggested in feedback a couple of times, and seems to have finally happened. It's a good thing, although I'm surprised skyR and Wom didn't get them.

Also, over a day ago, at least. I PMed him earlier yesterday saying grats.

I wouldn't highlight me, because I know some of my shit, and about half of my posts are either on debatable things or are attempts at helping troubleshoot, which is usually a process of trial and error, and I wouldn't want another person's suggestions to be ignored in favor of my own in those cases, as usually I throw my suggestions in there as complementary to what's already been suggested.

85% of what looks like some sort of knowledge from me is a combination of experience and analysis. The rest is just an ability to read and a willingness to broaden my knowledge.

I assure you skyR, Myrmidon, and Womwomwom at a minimum out of the regulars all knew this already.

Besides which, I'm still working on my bad habit of being a dick, and they wouldn't want to give new people the wrong impression.

My thoughts on it from one of those threads.
