This happened to me the other week, lol. I'd never built a PC before and when it was finished, it didn't turn on. Removed all the parts/cables from the mobo, re-attached them, still nothing. Got it working eventually, it turned out I'd left one of the power cables in the packaging. -.- It was an enjoyable experience though, you should go for it. It's way better than buying pre-built.

Hey guys, going to build a new gaming computer within 2-3 weeks. I live in finland... I only know two reliable places over here to order parts from, jimm's pc store and verkkokauppa.com, I don't know if I could get the same components way cheaper from sweden/norway/denmark etc while still being trustworthy. At least these two that I know are easy to deal with if parts break, and they're not horribly overpriced I think?
Budget: 600-800€ which should cover everything including OS. I have a monitor, keyboard and mouse already ofc.
What are you using it for? Gaming, with the possibility of streaming at the same time. I want to be able to run SC2, Diablo 3, skyrim etc on pretty much maxed out setting with 1920x1200 resolution or so, though a little bit smaller resolution isn't going to hurt my pride if its a huge difference in performance. If I can stream 720p while doing all this, I'm happy.
What is your upgrade cycle? Really not that often? lol. probably several years. I'm building this computer from a scratch too, so it'd be nice if the computer lasts a while. I was thinking over here, should I invest a little bit more on a slightly more expensive motherboard and processor if I want to overclock later should I find performance issues?
Do you plan on overclocking? atm I do not have plans of overclocking. Again, if it makes my upgrade cycle notably longer, or is something that I could save money in, sure. But as of now, I don't have plans on doing so, I barely even know how to. (As in, I have a clue and I could probably find it out, but right now im not totally sure even)
These are the parts that I have selected based on the feedback I got a while back.
Gigabyte GV-R687OC-1GD Radeon HD6870 1GB GDDR5 197€ Intel Core i5 2500 3.3 GHz LGA1155 -processor 197€ Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB WD5000AAKS 77€ LG GH22NSRB 22X DVD+-RW SATA 26€ Antec Sonata III 500 - ATX-case, with 500W ATX12V v. 2.0 PSU 118€ Asus P8H61 B3 Intel H61 LGA1155 ATX-motherboard 79€ Kingston Valueram 8 GB (2x4 GB) 1333 MHz DDR3 CL9 47€
The OS is offered at about 50-80€ from verkkokauppa.com, I don't know if I'll get it cheaper since im buying a relatively expensive computer.
Total price, not including OS: 741€ (goddamn im jealous of you americans and your cheap prices ;( )
Anything to point out, or is this good to go?

Don't worry, it's really that EASY.
Helped a friend of mine build hers recently over skype (just audio), turned on immediatly.
If it doesn't, usually it's just a cable you forgot/put in wrong place, in which case np it just won't start up (happened to me 2 days ago when i put my rig up together again (misplaced reset/power switch's, just a look in the manual and it was ready to go)

wow, that hardwareversand.de is a sick shop.... So so so much cheaper... omg.. Sorry for being a big noob about this, but is there anything in specific I should know about ordering overseas? Of course warranty is going to be more difficult to manage for one, but I assume it's highly unlikely for the parts to just break up anyway. The more expensive ones anyhow. I assume that you have experience with using that shop since you posted the link, but just to for the sake of reassurance, does anyone have good experiences using that shop, especially if it's international orders?
Also, does 'Mhz' matter at all in ram? I mean some have 1066, others 1333, some 1600 etc, does it really even matter? Obviously it seems that the higher it goes, the more expensive it also is, but if there's no noticeable difference with 8gb of ram anyways, then it doesn't matter to me.
Also, I vaguely remember SkyR or someone else say that brand actually can matter in GPU?? It's been a while, so im not sure, but I remember the person saying that they wouldn't trust brands other than gigabyte and sapphire too much? Regardless, it seems to only make a 7€ difference in the following shopping list anyway.
I created a new shopping list from http://www2.hardwareversand.de/home.jsp here it is:
Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 Runes of Magic, 1GB GDDR5 Full Retail 150€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=52730&agid=1004
Intel Core i5-2500K Box, LGA1155 189.8€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=41224&agid=1617
8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9 34.7€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=44315&agid=1192
WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 3 6Gb/s 65.9€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=39670&agid=1342
LG GH22NS50/70/90 bare schwarz 17.8€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=27402&agid=699
Antec High Current Gamer HCG-520 61.8€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=49529&agid=1628
BitFenix Merc Alpha 31.6€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=50575&agid=631
ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3, Sockel 1155, ATX 82.6€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=52888&agid=1601
ARCTIC COOLING CPU-Kühler Freezer i30 23.3€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=56228&agid=297
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit (SB-Version) 77.6€ http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=28239&agid=185
TOTAL PRICE: 735,06 €
I checked verkkokauppa.com's OS prices, and apparently buying a Windows 7 for your system is 100+€ if I understood correctly, and it's a deal which only affects your current rig.
All in all, should I order my rig from here, I will get everything over 100€ cheaper AND I will even get the opportunity to overclock my CPU with 2500k. If I went for 2500 and H61 motherboard, I would save about 60€, which is worth considering anyway, if that system would be able to run D3 on ultra, skyrim on maxed (or nearly maxed) gfx etc.
A few questions: a) the cpu cooler which I selected was the cheapest and if I'm right it should fit etc. Is it good enough for overclocking purposes? I don't plan on going overboard anyway with the overclocking, but if I select these parts I should be able to do it. b) How does that windows 7 product thing work, really? I mean, should I buy an original physical copy of windows 7 it would be like 200-300€ here in finland, is this similar to verkkokauppa.com's deal of 'Buy this copy, it will work for your rig, but nobody else's' ?

the home premium you ordered is in general. dunno if you can change language on that version.
with shipping costs and added taxes I don't think the difference in prices will be that major... but I can't find any concrete shipping cost to each country in that infopage. says the base is 22 euro to finland and then added on costs for various things?

Just get a Cooler Master 212 EVO as it is the standard of aftermarket heatsinks in this thread. Well looks like hardwareversand.de doesn't carry it. The one you listed will work fine.
RAM mhz is its speed. 1333/1600 are standard now (1866/2133 are OC'd).
The win7 is just a 1 time install. The 200€ version you can move from build to build (which is now going to be pretty useless with Win8 coming out within the next few years).
Buying a CHEAP case is a horrible decision. Usually the case is only made of 0.5mm thick steel (good cases use 0.9mm) making it somewhat fragile (a fall off a desk will gg it and your have a good chance of damaging your components) and the corners are usually very sharp. IF you decide to stick with this case I would suggest buying 1 120mm fan and mounting it in the front to use as an intake fan.
As I stated before, There is no difference between graphics cards named the same except cooling system/customer support. If you want to spend the extra 10€ for the card of your choice, go ahead nothing wrong with it.
Why 500GB HDD? you can get 1TB for ~20€ more. http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=42805&agid=1342

I checked it, and shipping fees should indeed be 22€. Since Finland and germany both belong to EU, there should be no extra taxes whatsoever when ordering international, if I've understood it correctly.
As far as the windows goes, I don't mind not being able to change the language as long as it's english. I don't want a german version of windows lol. It does say, however, that the language is german.
EDIT: looks like I can just buy the english version from there, but its like 7-8€ more expensive. Thats fine tho
EDIT2:
Alright, I made adjustments to the case and memory, to these:
Cooler Master HAF 912 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=41084&agid=631 8GB-Kit G.Skill RipJaws-X PC3-12800U CL9 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=44321&agid=1193
Which makes the new price 788,61
If with these changes things seem ok, I think I have things pretty much assembled. about 820€ with shipping fees included, and if I wish to drop the price with not being able to overclock, then I'll go down to 740€ ish. At least shikyo recommended that case in that old thread of his, so at least this case should be good, but I could possibly get by with a less expensive one, though I don't know what those options would be. might add the 1TB harddrive too, though I doubt I'll ever need more than 250gb even. It also doesn't look like they have cooler master evo 212 heatsink availible over there... Is this a fine alternative? http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=53134&agid=669
EDIT3: Holy crap, hopefully the last edit??? So, should I decide NOT to overclock, the price will drop about 100€! and I believe even without overclocking, the computer will probably more than meet my needs. If I'm wrong here, just correct me and I'll go with the slightly more expensive option... (ultra SC2 +streaming, ultra D3 etc).
Just to be sure though, here are the parts: ASRock H61M-HVS (B3), Sockel 1155, mATX Intel Core i5-2500 Box, LGA1155 Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 Runes of Magic, 1GB GDDR5 Full Retail 8GB-Kit G.Skill RipJaws-X PC3-12800U CL9 Cooler Master HAF 912 schwarz, ohne Netzteil Antec High Current Gamer HCG-520 LG GH22NS50/70/90 bare schwarz WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 3 6Gb/s (or +20€ for 1TB) MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SB-Version Englisch TOTAL PRICE: 712,66
Should I be concerned about the fact that the mainboard says "Intel HD Graphics 3000" or is that just a useless piece of information if I have my own graphics card anyway?

-Shipping will be a flat €22, no extra VAT or anything else.
-The license key from the german version will work on any language version of windows 7. You can download the english version here and just tburn it to DVD or make a bootable USB key from it. Install it from that and use the license key from the german version when asked. That will save you a couple of euro.
-HWVS only take payment via bank transfer, so you can't pay with a credit card. If you have online banking its pretty easy to do.
-I'd make a few small changes to that build. The main one would be to drop the CPU cooler for now and get a beefier GPU. You seem a bit hesitant on overclocking, so you can grab a heatsink down the line when you are more confident:

Either way, your build is a bit hmhm, have you given thought to overclocking? You are able to achieve an enormous performance boost with very little trouble, though it costs some more.
http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=41225&agid=1617 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=46918&agid=1603 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=57153&agid=1165 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=50575&agid=631 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=29181&agid=185 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=39670&agid=1342 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=47362&agid=699 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=50852&agid=1626 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=44315&agid=1192
This totals 741,74€ without shipping. I really wanted a better graphics card because the difference is so significant, it has more memory(which many games use a ton of) and because its power consumption is lower than 6870s despite having better performance.
However, I really would suggest you to consider overclocking. Up to a mild level(Say 4.2 Ghz) all you need to do is modify a single number in the bios and you don't need to worry about anything, while getting a ~24% performance increase.
If you want to buy an overclockable configuration, just replace the CPU and the motherboard with: http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=41224&agid=1617 http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=43133&agid=1601
And you'd also want an aftermarket heatsink: http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=52672&agid=669
It would bring you above your budget and might or might not be worth it for you. Either way I think that these builds would be better for you. I wouldn't want to skimp on the graphics card too much - even if you can probably get away with all those games (Except skyrim) with a 6870, it's possible that you want to play another game in the future, and the performance difference should be noticeable for just about every game apart from Starcraft 2, especially on that kind of a resolution. Then there's the overclockability and the low power consumption and the fact that 6870 is quite a loud card and yeah.

Color and price.
Anything from Seasonic, Antec, Corsair, XFX. 450-500w unless you're building multi-GPU.

As far as the windows goes, I don't mind not being able to change the language as long as it's english. I don't want a german version of windows lol. It does say, however, that the language is german.
EDIT: looks like I can just buy the english version from there, but its like 7-8€ more expensive. Thats fine tho You are that very good SCBW player aren't you, who was A- / B+ at a certain point in time(No idea about the current situation)? Either way, your build is a bit hmhm, have you given thought to overclocking? You are able to achieve an enormous performance boost with very little trouble, though it costs some more. http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=41225&agid=1617http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=46918&agid=1603http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=57153&agid=1165http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=50575&agid=631http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=29181&agid=185http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=39670&agid=1342http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=47362&agid=699http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=50852&agid=1626http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=44315&agid=1192This totals 741,74€ without shipping. If you want to buy an overclockable configuration, just replace the CPU and the motherboard with: http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=41224&agid=1617http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=43133&agid=1601And you'd also want an aftermarket heatsink: http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=52672&agid=669It would bring you above your budget and might or might not be worth it for you. Thanks for the help. (Deconduo too!) Yeah, I am that finnish zerg. Wrote a guide here, did FPVOD's etc. Then I went to the army and semi-dropped competitive gaming, though im gradually getting back to it Alright, a noticeable difference in performance is enough to justify overclocking, I wasn't sure exactly what the difference really was. So Currently the build looks like this: ASRock P67 Pro3 (B3), Sockel 1155, ATX (Is there a difference between P67 and Z67 that matter to me? I save a few euro with p67) Intel Core i5-2500K Box, LGA1155 Powercolor HD7850 2GB GDDR5 BitFenix Shinobi Midi-Tower USB 3.0 black, ohne Netzteil (This is 20€ more expensive than the merc) Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 550W (shikyo suggested 400w i think... Is that enough? it is a little bit cheaper) WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 3 6Gb/s Samsung SH-222AB bare schwarz SATA Thermalright True Spirit 120 (Aftermarket heatsink that shikyo suggested) Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit (SB-Version)
TOTAL PRICE NOW 773,21 € +22€ shipping ofc This is still much in my price range, and comparing it having considerably better cpu and GPU to 6870 and 2500, the difference in money from before is only 60€. OFC selecting the same PSU, case, etc I would be able to drop the price down a little bit too, but this is still barely in my price range

Don't build on X79 at that price point. If you can't afford at least a hex core, your price/performance overall will be worse than if you build on socket 1155.
You'll easily free up room in your budget for a 7850 or better, just doing that, with negligible performance loss compared to an 1155 i5.

Im going to be rendering animations... EDIT: and i believe the X79 platform will be able to last a few years for new processors, while lga 1155 is done for with haswell going on 1150

Enthusiast sockets don't last longer. Look at how much longer 1366 lasted than 1156. Oh wait. Obsolete at the same time.
A 3820, price/performance, is worse than a 2500k or even 2600k. It's your money, but do your research instead of making assumptions.

Motherboard - ASUS AM3+ SABERTOOTH 990FX S/L
CPU - AMD FX-Series FX-8120 Black Edition Eight Core Processor (3.10 GHz, 16MB Cache, Socket AM3+, 125W
RAM - Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3
GPU - Asus 1GB Radeon HD 6850
Case - Galaxy 3 Mid Tower Black 450W PSU
PSU - 500 WATT ATX POWER SUPPLY
HSF - Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler
This is just, a general Idea of what I want. I'm not sure yet if they will all work together? Need some help from someone who knows their stuff
Basically all this computer is for, is playing Starcraft 2, on high graphics, and streaming it online, so a good CPU is a must and also a graphics card that wont kill itself when trying to run good graphics
