The second map from our Season 4 map voting poll has been revealed. doesn't mean that Metaloplis was second place. It's just the second to be revealed.
And I don't think it is that surprising. It was a bad map, even for the time. People make fun of it. Metalopolis was a good map for the time. No surprise that people have positive feelings towards it.

Ah cool I thought they were revealed in a particular order.
As for myself, I wasn't there on the release but played a couple of customs with buddies on steppes late wol, it was kinda cool as a T

PvT on metal will be interesting, Im guessing the Terran will need to take the gold early (maybe as 3rd?) as Protoss can camp their gold base with Tempests in the late game and kill everything on the other side.

I did enjoy it back in the day in fairness

good thing you have that super exposed main you can poke with blink, or siege with tempests from dead air.

Metalopolis looks horrible for Protoss. Probably going to veto that straight off. Cloud Kingdom I can deal with. Needs more Bel'shir, Akilon and Whirlwind though

a) the Book of Bullshit never closes
b) Modern proper protoss allins are all done off two bases. Not being able to take the natural throws them out of the book, especially in PvZ. In fact, not being able to secure a natural completely breakes that matchup in favour of Zerg, as shown by Daedalus Point. In PvT the only one base all-ins that are available are one base blink (actually really good on metal for what it's worth) and some kind of proxy oracle/void ray bust.

Plus by virtue of the 'It's Meta, my Protoss is probably going to allin' line of thinking you'll see people playing with that in mind.
Protoss allins are good don't get me wrong, but they're strongest when the Protoss has the full gamut of options for greed and macro plays as part of their hand

I remember playing some 2 base games, but also some lost games because of screwing the simcity, which is really that hard to learn, again.
I will veto the map, no doubt about, because meta shifted and I don't know how to play and I don't think the old meta would work. But i thought it has to be told that even on those horrible maps was the option to open FFE. I remember playing macro games on Xel Naga Caverns, I use the same sim city on the dark map from current map pool(the one with colossus dance ) (from time to time, usually I block the ramp :D)

It is funny how people here are on their high horse and pretend knowing exactly how every map will play out and which race it will favor.

eh, I'd say I have a pretty good estimate, making maps and all.

If a small adjustment to a tiny number is made in a game, you see people arguing about it how it will affect the gameflow and which race will dominate the others. and even progamers seem to be having different opinions on changes made and how it affects the game. They cant possibly all be right/all be wrong because the statements are contradictory but somehow EVERYONE seems to be absolutely sure the game will change the way they think it will. But how can they be? Now with changes so HUGE with these maps, how can anyone with absolute certainty predict how the gameflow will change?

There are certain things you can predict reasonably accurately looking at the map architecture, how the map played before and what new HoTS units could potentially do on said map.
