Except without the GG

WCS AM will continue to include LatAm, Oceania/SEA, CN, and TW/HK/Macau, you can all stop freaking out about it.

At least no KeSPA kids will retire, and possibly weaker teams may have some power boost I actually like this since that dozen of players wont be able to farm easy money/points while their superior fellow compatriots struggle Ah yes, Koreans who can't keep up with the competition are expected to disappear. Foreigners on the other hand, something must be done for them. No they are expected to try their hardest on their home soil and win that $70K 1st place. And no one prevents them from playing 25 IEM/DH/[insert random foreign tourney] each year. Im happy as far as the KR scene is not harmed by this (in this case, probably improved) And you can see all those tweets about how happy those foreigners are now that Korean bullies are booted. Fuck competitiveness, they are laughing straight to the bank with this. Win-Win situation really.

I actually really dislike the full region lock idea. i have loved what WCS AM was this past year and have watched so much of it and unless a bunch of Koreans actually get residency in the AM region, I fear that WCS AM is going to just be plagued with forfeits and whining. I hope I'm wrong about that though.

People who can't travel and live overseas will retire because they can't make money in a crowded GSL and a lot of Kespa kids will retire as well. Some of the foreigners who have it made are so fucking entitled. There are Koreans who work far harder, and have far more skill, but see far less success and have way less fans, team support and opportunities, yet foreigners will still act like it is they who are hard done by and should be given easier competition. This is the improper assumption. Skill isnn't determined by nationality, and hard work is both made possible and made more valuable by the fact that the Korean competitive infrastructure started light-years ahead of the rest of the world, as characterized by the fact that the GLOBAL StarCraft League was "show up here in Korea to attempt to qualify", and the rest of the world has to uproot their lives to try and turn their talent into actual success. As Catz once put it. "In Korea you can eat and breathe SC2. Try to eat and breathe SC2 in America and watch how fast you starve." I want people who are talented and dedicated enough to try to eat and breathe SC2 wherever they might live, and let only their actual abilities, honed by dedicated practice, determine who wins. Is it possible? Not entirely, but I'd rather come as close as possible to it than simply abandon it and let one country stomp all over everyone. Enough time has passed that this no longer holds weight. All of this shit has been repeated over and over. SC2 has been bigger internationally than it has been in Korea. Many, many foreign team houses have been set up and all have failed miserably. Koreans have left the environment and continued to prosper. Scarlett originally reached Korean killing level by laddering as a complete unknown on a laptop that could barely run the game. CatZ and his fucking Root house, what good has it done? Outside of very few exceptions the players themselves have not stepped up to the challenge, and if they haven't by now then they never will. They just don't have what it takes.

In the short-term, though, this hurts a lot of people. Off the top of my head, the parties who are going to feel worst about this are: 1) Koreans competing overseas who can't get a foreign visa, don't want to live overseas long-term. These guys are top guys when they play in WCS America and WCS Europe, but I don't think will hack it in the GSL. Guys like Patience, Stardust, and MMA in Europe. Guys like Pigbaby, Jaedong, and Hero in WCS America. 2) Koreans who have fought their way into the GSL Ro8 and gave a big sigh of relief because they will definitely be in Code S next year. Wait! You have to re-qualify from scratch. Now admittedly all the guys who make GSL Ro8 are MONSTERS anyways, but upsets do happen, especially in Code A and Code B. Guys who might not make it back are Innovation and Stats. Maybe even Rain, who doesn't seem to be all that hot in qualifiers.

This should do wonders for the scenes WCS AM were actually made for, and will increase the quality of the code A qualifiers and GSL itself. Seems like Blizzard is doing everything right "Increase the quality". Code A ain't supposed to be sOs-soO and Rain-Flash every game but we're on our way it seems. The skill level that was before Ro32 is now going to be Ro16 or maybe even Ro8. We've seen that no one wants to really watch lower level NA players on a regular basis and now that's most of what it'll be.

Major is 6-0 vs Polt recently and if Polt gets past major in the qualifiers, set up the tournament so he will have to face Major again during the Ro32/16

Yeah, unfortunately I think it will really hurt WCS AM viewership as if this goes through I would watch a lot less and then watch more GSL vods.
