Let me know ahead of time and I'll make sure I go as well
What you mean do some sort of awkward LR meetup with me dressed as a frog so you can get picture evidence?
Precisely that except it would be extremely not-awkward
If Russia decides to annex all of Ukraine then that's boycott worthy. So far, they taken the part that wants to be Russian anyway. Should we boycott the united states too? Iraq and Afghanistan were invasions, but no one wants to boycott them.
I'm shocked that you should compare the two. First of all they were a NATO interventions. And the NATO countries didn't annex or plan to annex any of the part of these countries. The U.S. has withdrew all forces from Iraq and the full withdrawal is in process in regards to Afghanistan. Ukraine-Russia situation is a completely different matter. I won't go into details now but you just don't invade an annex other countries because a certain majority lives there.
just in case anyone thinks about attending the bucharest event, don't go to the hotel they promoted in the op, that's literally the most expensive shit in the country. there's plenty of other options.

I sympathize with the Ukrainian people, but I'm not going to boycot an esports over it. But do what you want I guess.
If your country got invaded would you like that everybody just didn't care? Democratic nations should stand together against the tyranny. Doing dreamhack in Russia is like saying to everyone: nothing important is happening! Carry on! What if Russia annexes more Ukraine? Or the whole Ukraine? Will you still pretend that nothing is happening? What a farce. Russia should be thoroughly boycotted and ignored at least for now until the tensions get calmer.
You'd still call Ukraine a democratic nation after their legitimately elected president got overthrown even though the necessary majority to put him out of office has not been reached in parliament and with right-wing facists in the government?

"after their legitimately elected president" that guy literally was a marionette of Russia, believing anything else would be naive. But sometimes, you have to stand up against things that just aren't right, and I guess ukraine basically did that.
Thing is that serious bullshit of West vs. East is being played on ukrainian fields. Esports is something that isn't and should not be a political topic. Words like "I don't support Dreamhack Russia" don't help any ukrainian guy. If you're really willing to help and not just stand by, go there, bring some food, give shelter to people who lost their home. Go and organize demonstrations in your respective home country to try motivating people to care! I'm a german guy, and we germans don't really have huge problems, so why should we care. That's a harsh truth, but that's how it is. Many discuss current political topics, in bars, in trains, when meeting up, but none of my friends nor myself actually tries to change something. a comment on TL.net about boycotting Dreamhack Russia helps exactly as much as a facebook like prevents cancer.
"after their legitimately elected president" that guy literally was a marionette of Russia, believing anything else would be naive. Also, I don't want to pull out weird comparisons, but Hitler was elected in germany with like 97% or so for his party. Following your logic.. no, I won't follow your logic since that's too constructed. But sometimes, you have to stand up against things that just aren't right, and I guess ukraine basically did that.
this is historically wrong on so many levels, i can't even laugh

it's correct, but oversimplifying. I'm just trying to give that "legit president" quote a bitter taste. I know as good as you that this "election" didn't have any democratic elements and had lots of influences like violence, restrictions on other parties, terror etc.. I'm thinking about editing my post, since it's misleading (the "Reichstagswahl" of March 1933 was with ~40% for Hitler's party and in terms of the Weimar Republic legal) and too harsh at that point.
edit: just looked up. indeed that almost-100%-decision was about austria joining germany. my fail, and I am seriously sorry for that.

Except that's not true. Atleast according to the final OSCE report:
"The presidential election met most OSCE commitments and other international standards for democratic elections and consolidated progress achieved since 2004. The process was transparent and offered voters a genuine choice between candidates representing diverse political views." http://www.osce.org/odihr/elections/ukraine/67015
