"after their legitimately elected president" that guy literally was a marionette of Russia, believing anything else would be naive. Also, I don't want to pull out weird comparisons, but Hitler was elected in germany with like 97% or so for his party. Following your logic.. no, I won't follow your logic since that's too constructed. But sometimes, you have to stand up against things that just aren't right, and I guess ukraine basically did that.
this is historically wrong on so many levels, i can't even laugh
it's correct, but oversimplifying. I'm just trying to give that "legit president" quote a bitter taste. I know as good as you that this "election" didn't have any democratic elements and had lots of influences like violence, restrictions on other parties, terror etc.. I'm thinking about editing my post, since it's misleading (the "Reichstagswahl" of March 1933 was with ~40% for Hitler's party and in terms of the Weimar Republic legal) and too harsh at that point.
edit: just looked up. indeed that almost-100%-decision was about austria joining germany. my fail, and I am seriously sorry for that.
Except that's not true. Atleast according to the final OSCE report:
"The presidential election met most OSCE commitments and other international standards for democratic elections and consolidated progress achieved since 2004. The process was transparent and offered voters a genuine choice between candidates representing diverse political views." http://www.osce.org/odihr/elections/ukraine/67015
edit: Sorry didn't see, won't continue offtopic.
This part refers to the german Machtergreifung of Hitler, not to the election of the ukrainian president. Sorry for the un-clearance.

Only downside to this great announcement is they are using the same venues as last years tour? Be a bit more cool if they could change it up every year, of course always uses Sweden as the base But maybe Portugal could use some love? Or Italy? Or England etcetc, many destinations in Europe Using same ones year in year out seems a bit bm, especially when one of them is Russia where it is so much paperwork to get into the country.
It would be stupid to abandon great working partnerships with tested locations. Building routine for these events allow them to expand to more locations and build larger local DreamHack groups.

I sympathize with the Ukrainian people, but I'm not going to boycot an esports over it. But do what you want I guess.
If your country got invaded would you like that everybody just didn't care? Democratic nations should stand together against the tyranny. Doing dreamhack in Russia is like saying to everyone: nothing important is happening! Carry on! What if Russia annexes more Ukraine? Or the whole Ukraine? Will you still pretend that nothing is happening? What a farce. Russia should be thoroughly boycotted and ignored at least for now until the tensions get calmer.
You'd still call Ukraine a democratic nation after their legitimately elected president got overthrown even though the necessary majority to put him out of office has not been reached in parliament and with right-wing facists in the government?
How can people by so brainwashed/ignorant is beyond me. And you're not even from Russia so you don't have the excuse of not being able to know the real state of things. Yanukovich was removed from presidency by 328 deputies when only 300 was necessary. Majority of his own party supported his removal. Also, contrary to Russian propaganda, there are no fascists in Ukrainian government.
I could explain all of it in detail and provide sources and proofs but this is offtopic here. You can PM me if you want.

Funny thing is, most of the people in the area invaded are russian and welcomed the move...... So, boycotting doesn't really seem to be in anyone's best interest, since if u took a poll of the people truly effected, which has been done, most are in favour.

Well ok, why would it be stupid to abandon the rest of Europe then? England Italy Germany (all be it they have IEM) France etc are all good locations that don't get used on tours much, no reason why they can't spread the love! Of course if say England drew less crowds than Romania then the following year you cut England, but to just keep the same places without trying others i think is a slight flaw.
