Not that SC2 is dead, but the era of foreigners seriously competing, the era of all the old greats. Bummer... Yeah, Scarlett talked about possibly retiring sometime during 2014. Bummer indeed. For the (hopefully) last time, she is leaving for Korea in a few days to stay several months at least, she is basically going to put her face to the grind over in Korea. That does not seem very retirementesque to me. Yeah, totally forgot about that, sorry. She DID mention a couple of months ago that she was thinking of retiring though, good to hear she seems to have changed her mind. Tbh, I didn't think that she played very well the last few months, so I was already believing that she didn't practice as much anymore. She's my favorite player probably, so I always wish to see her do well. It would be amazing if she could benefit from hardcore Korean practice and return as a much better player.

Interresting personality. Great loss for the scene.
I just hope he stays in something competitiv, maybe switches games, great guy to cheer for and follow.

I hope he is just trying to mess with his opponents and done some secret training last month to own at IEM tomorrow...

I can't help but to hope for that as well, as silly as it seems.

Have absolutely no idea where you got this info from; she said in the AMAA that she is NOT planning to retire for a long time. She doesn't even have any reason to; she's on top of her game and if she practices a little she literally stomps heads, korean or not.
Enough with the retirement hype train please, if Naniwa is retiring it doesn't mean half of pros are now considering it, it just means Naniwa is retiring, gl hf there are lots of other tremendously good players to keep the scene alive for the next 30 years

one thing that is for sure is that he's gonna practice a lot before he announces his comeback

He has made a good decision. I hope he do not come back, it would be for the best for him.

I got it from the interview she did a few months ago, at the end of 2013 (before Red Bull, as I recall), where she said that she was considering retirement - or at least not playing full time - next year (2014), since playing the game full time was becoming boring to her. You're right though, she's changed her mind, as someone on the last page already pointed out.
Wasn't trying to start a retirement dedgaem hype train, I'd just managed to forget she was going to Korea and assumed she still had the same idea as at the end of 2013.

Yeah, i like that idea a lot better...

can't blame him. Blizzard just dropped the ball with HotS where they threw a good oppurtunity to really the get the game to a next level and hardly improved upon WoL.

This makes sense. That could be the point.

I disagree. Save for Swarm Host turtle parties, HotS is an improvement in almost every MU. PvZ wasn't good at the end of WoL either.

She`s always had bad wrist issues. She said in an interview once she uses 2 fingers to click a mouse button. So I bet from time to time she needs to take breaks.

When static defence is a requirement for your army to stand a chance against certain compositions, I think that's bad.

Hmm I agree with this mostly but the overall improvement has been very mediocre. PvT I'd also say was better in WoL, it was largely the same as now minus the minor oracle and widow mine stuff but the game was more open because of no msc, T never opens aggression anymore. The rest did improve (though not so sure of TvT) but the improvements are very minor. Compared to late wol with the infestor problems yes but to before that hardly. All the new units were a failure in my eyes except the widow mine. Hellbat is a boring unit and mostly gone. Viper is fairly cool but it's vulnerability in general and weakness to HT make it of limited use. Swarm host is a terrible design. Msc is pretty crap too removing a lot of early action in matchups. Oracle is okish but just fills a role very similar to phoenix did before already, stargate play is still basically nonexistant in PvT besides the early play. Tempest is fine but mostly just a situational colossus counter. The good changes in hots were mostly those to old units. Reaper fix, hydra buffs, ultralisk change and infestor nerf were the best stuff they did which should have happened in WoL already.. ZvZ never evolved into something interesting other than roach wars ZvP improved quite a bit and is a great matchup now I think except for the swarm host wars. PvT is one of the worst matchups for a long time now I think because there is basically no variation in styles and it's mostly just one harassing while the other defends. ZvT is quite dynamic and probably forever the best matchup action wise. I still miss that 'next step' though in the final tech that is hard to get but so important eventually, like defilers for example. It's pretty much a tier 2 battle mostly with the last relevant tech being 3-3, viper and raven changes failed here i think. TvT is fairly good but mech play is still too bland, they should have fixed mech a long time ago in general AND made it fun. PvP improved a fair bit though it lacks too much in mid/lategame cool stuff. After the opening gambling it becomes a dull affair.
