So with that in mind, are we actually entitled to anything as fans? Should we be?

So with that in mind, are we actually entitled to anything as fans? Should we be? There was a pretty good post by Nazgul (or maybe Chill?) about how eSports is not a charity. You don't donate / sub to players / tournaments in the hope that the scene gets better. You do it because you enjoy what they're doing. It's kind of the same deal with cheering for someone. You do it because you enjoy their gameplay (or whatever), not because of what you can get back. Of course this doesn't mean that fans are meaningless or without feelings when someone blows them off. It's bad form even if fans aren't actually owed them anything (they *chose* to give support after all). Trashing the fanbase (even if it was sarcastic) is what got Idra canned from EG after all, it's just tacky and unprofessional. To clarify I don't think that's what Naniwa was trying to do in his tweet, I think he just let the haters get to him (and I'm sure there's a lot more from his meltdown / throw at IEM). That's really been his problem, always focusing on the wrong things IMO, not that it's easy when you're as polarizing as Naniwa. | ||
