Summer is not yet over it seems. Powered by a dominating performance from TaeJa, Team Liquid took a decisive 4 - 1 victory over Team Acer in the finals of the SC2L hosted at DreamHack Bucharest. Deployed twice in the line-up, TaeJa was able to defeat Acer's two strongest players in MMA and INnoVation, contributing greatly to his team's victory.

Team Acer
While Acer was able to get off to a strong start as INnoVation mangled Snute with his famous marine-medivac-mine waves, that was the last time anything went right for Acer. HerO tied up the score by easily taking out Nerchio with laser toss, with even Nerchio himself dismissing his chances at winning prior to the match.
After HerO tied things up, TaeJa landed a crucial two-hit combo by taking out both INnoVation and MMA. Both games were decided in the early game, as TaeJa took massive leads after defending against his opponent's aggressive plays. TaeJa made no mistakes, and safely snowballed his advantages into two wins.
Scarlett may have made the difference had she been present, but with their star Zerg on leave, Acer had to rely on Bly and ParanOid to get back into the series. Unfortunately for the team in green, TLO was able to close the series out in the fifth set. After holding off Bly's early baneling attacks, TLO used his faster mutalisks to tear through Bly's poorly positioned overlords, and soon after take the game.
With a 4 - 1 victory, Liquid won the first place prize of $5,000, and the title of SC2L Season One champions.
I think TaeJa is the most consistent and reliable player in the world throughout a 1 year period. He can't win every tournament but damn, he's so solid with nearly no slumps.
Awesome games! I like TLO's ZvZ alot! Taeja showed immaculate defense vs aggressive openings while holding his early expansion. Definitely must watch games for any terran player. well played liquid!

The games were fun, but kind of dissatisfying. There weren't any epic games or anything. But TLO kicking ass is always fun to watch. =]
If those games ran a bit earlier, we may have seen better play from Acer, and better games overall. I don't hop on the ladder at 2 AM and expect good play.

Not like the time didn't impact Liquid as well. Ret played in Group Stage 1 after all. Not to mention TaeJa played the last game of the night in a 3 game TvZ against Symbol.
Mmm, personally i feel as though the EG vs TL games were a lot better :D But i still had fun watching this. GGs imo and good job liquid :D and congrats to Acer for still getting second
It was fun to watch, but I have to echo what others have said, DH is one of the grindiest of tournaments and throwing this in the middle of it? It looked like some tired games. Except Taeja who has some weird reserve of energy, he was even beaming between games ^^ But yes, fun to watch Taeja and Hero in shape and congrats to Liquid!
grats I guess. This format still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Not only that but the format is derp worthy. If we're truly going to have a World Circuit and something like PL at the same time, events like this will have to happen on the road, so yes the players ultimately will be playing tired. There really isn't a way around it.
I don't get the argument that Acer would've played better if it wasn't so late at night/in the middle of Dreamhack. After all, all the player who participated played many games earlier in the day. If I'm not mistaken every player for both teams (including ret and paranoid) made it to at least group stage 3.
Looks like I have to re-adjust my signature and add Taeja to it. Didn't want to jump the train in 2012's summer, but hey, I will take the train for the 2013 summer. It's almost over, so I'll go full hipster, huh?

I agree with this. Innovation quickly tweeted out after losing that he was too tired for this tournament. I mean, you do have to give them a bit of wiggle room because people are different. However, they were all tired. It's not exactly an excuse that should be used for why you lost.
I still feel bad for every player at Dreamhack. They put so many games into a short period of time that it's kind of ridiculous. Stacking SC2L that late and after the longer part of the entire tournament wasn't the best of ideas in my opinion.
Ah well, I enjoyed what I was capable of watching and that's what matters I guess. We're still far away from what's ideal for many tournaments.
