I watch a lot gsl and Protoss usually do seem to struggle as a race, nearly always have the least amount of representation in the latter rounds, yet on ladder its the pwning race. I guess all the gimmicky plays that work fantastic in random ladder games do not transcend well into a tournament setting like the gsl where players have time to research their opponent and where players are of that level where gimmicky shit gets spotted faster and shut down more efficiently.

About the speed prism, its worth being tested I suppose could make some all ins a bit too strong in PvT though.

Oracles have a speed of 3.375, compared to the 4 of Mutalisks and 4.25 of Phoenix.

maybe good idea for pvt but pvz warp prism is already kind of too good compared to zerg harass potential (nonexistant outside of mass mutalisks) and i fear it might just break immortal allins all over again.
also having even less time to react to sentry force field on ramp gateway allins is a BAAAAAD thing.

also: have blizzard checked pro league???

Because the Warp Prism is a gateway unit and a core unit in most protoss compositions, just like the zergling is for zerg, yes?

OK, well that's understandable, but if you have want to keep making oracles later on, you can have phoenixes to keep the mutas away from the path your oracle is taking. Obviously you don't always want to commit that much to air though, of course.
I just don't like the idea that all these speed buffs will make these seem like the key harassment options and maybe others might seem too much less desirable (like going for zerg drops instead of mutas).
It all depends on what the players go for of course, though if toss goes for a lot of phoenixes, it can keep out the air routes for zerg, but then you have more ground, yada yada...

I'm just trying to think of the implications of all of it; I don't want variety of harassment methods to go out the window and I don't want them making changes that make it too easy to keep harrasment tools like warp prisms, mutalisks and medivacs alive.

They could buff stalkers or all gateway units if they made it so you cant place a pylon anywhere on the map, and were forced to go warp prism for advance warp ins.

If you made it so pylons could only be warped in, in range of another pylon or nexus then we wouldnt have strong protoss all ins because their units would have to walk across the map like the rest of us. But since they cant do that anymore, you could buff them to make them more use-able in the mid-late game

I mean the warp prism was designed for advance warpins, theres no reason to be able to place pylons everywhere. I think it would solve alot of the problems where Protoss all ins are suuuuper strong, but their mid game sucks because their gateway units are terrible against terran zerg low tier armies.

Plus it would completely eliminate 4gate and change PvP.

The fact that they are trying to morph Protoss race into a more dynamic style is baffling when the problem lies with the core design of the race itself.

Everyone knows the reason why it's boring to watch any PvX is because Protoss simply cannot effectively trade units like Terran or Zergs do. That's why Protoss rely heavily on 1) force shield, 2) timing attack, or 3) all in.

This is a problem with the design concept of warp in and weak gateway units.

With the Mothership Core, Warp Prism is already decent for mid-game harass. You can use Time Warp or Recall to assist gate-unit warp-ins. Moving Gravitic Drive to the Cybernetics Core would be a possible compromise if testing proves Speed Prisms at 6min are too strong. Easier to get it sooner is cool, automatic might be too much.
Making it cheaper (75/75) would encourage more use. (same should happen to Overlord Speed/Burrow)

I still think the most glaring problem at the highest level is that Medivac Afterburners are free.
Medivacs always have a ton of Energy, rarely needing to worry about overstimming. Feedbacking Medivacs in late-game usually just snipes them off in one shot.
Making Afterburners cost a little Energy would make Feedback prevent Medivacs from using boost, but would kill them a lot less. A fair trade for Terrans having to decide whether to spend their Medivac Energy on Heal, or on Boost. It's definitely a nerf, but a fair one for a free spell.

A slight buff to Oracle speed should make them easier to keep alive, just leave acceleration where it is.
Oracle harass seems to be just as underused as Prism harass. Making both a bit better means more choices.

TLDR: I like this idea, but think it needs to be moved to Cyber Core instead, and also buff Oracle speed.


Actually the best way to nerf afterburners is to buff them. Remove the cooldown but give it a 25 energy use. This means that using afterburners often will weaken their healing--but have the side effect that using it a lot will increase mobility. This also means you can't use afterburners to escape after a big fight (healing drains energy too much) while at the same time give players the ability to turn off medivac healing to "boost" their ability to use afterburners.

It would separate good medivac users from bad medivac users by leaps and bounds.

They have the lowest winning percentages in the leagues by far. Maybe move the viper to lair tech imo.

Zerg stay shit? Since when has Zerg been 'shit' recently?

A lot of your posting seems to be about stuff being good against Zerg. Hate to say it, but you might be needing to improve YOUR play, not Zerg in general?

Lets look at Zerg recently:

Last MLG Champ: Life (Zerg)
Last Dreamhack Champ: Leenock (Zerg)
Last GSL Champ: RorO (Zerg) (Granted WoL but w/e)

Zerg is NOT 'shit' right now. In no way do I think its imbalanced overall as a race (not saying that at all), but it certainly is NOT 'shit' as you put it.

Edit - For some perspective, I think (barring HasuObs winning EPS Germany, not a 'proper' international major imo though) we are still waiting on a Protoss win in a major tourney in HotS... Not suggesting underpowered, but just saying!
