In Korea, GSL will be take place for two seasons (one running very soon and the one after summer), while OSL will be held in the summer as the point arbitrator - Koreans and foreigners are not restricted by the regions, and can travel to every tournament to gain points. - MLG and IEM are simultaneously independent of the WCS system, which allows Koreans and foreigners outside of their region to participate - DreamHack, NASL, Iron Squid and other mid-tier tournaments will contribute to the point system, though at a lesser scale compared to the other regionals I don't see how this can work in a fair system. Players who can go to these tournaments get to collect extra points. If someone who does worse in the main WCS events can get ahead of someone who's done better by collecting points at DH that the other player can't go to for some reason, that doesn't sound right. Its going to be less points that the WCS events, so you can't just win those events.
If you're only slightly behind or if you have equal points and you can get ahead by going to extra events that someone else can't go to, that still makes no sense.

Rain/Last being seeded into the GSL is an effort to reconcile GOM & OGN, creating some synergy between the two leagues, now that both are blizzardly part of the WCS
Anyway Starleagues are still what matter to me. WCS will be just another fun consolidation tourney (which is played solely on ladder maps lul)

Come to think about it this whole regional business may backfire badly. If LAN events are few every league may end up with top of purely Koreans despite issues with latency. If they prove willing to take risks by switching regions this whole initiative may bury foreign scene instead of helping it.
Also since GSL is now WCS Korea that almost certainly means the end of foreigner hopefuls playing there. Shame.

?
Nothing really change in the Korean scene aside from them getting more money.
If anything this gives chance to more Korean players. Previously the only way they can make it is if they are code A at least and that's really tough.
Now, those who struggled to succeed because of the intense competition and want to take a gamble can go and conquer other regions.
Kinda like how some US Basketball players go play in Euro/Asian leagues and get paid very well.

I'm still digesting this myself, but this doesn't sound right at all.
- GSL and OSL are pretty much left unchanged aside from possibly taking a blow in competition (if too many players flock to the other regions) and in prestige. GSL and OSL were already qualifiers in some ways for the Blizzard Cup, this is similar to that.
- It may not be as diluted with foreigners as you think, since Korean can participate outside their region.
There will probably be some foreigners who make it to the seasonal finals which are international, but I can't see hardly any making the top 16 for the Blizzcon grand final. Perhaps Stephano since he's actually quite good and participates in a lot of tournaments (extra points).

VODs aren't free atm, if people can't watch it live and have to pay (most likely a reduced price than it is atm) I doubt many people will complain

Except nobody took WCG seriously and it was a minor event compared to OSL and MSL. WCS is controlled by Blizzard and it looks like all the organizations are being strong-armed into it at risk of another Blizzard lawsuit. They're monopolizing the entire pro Starcraft scene, which wouldn't be such a bad thing if their track record wasn't so terrible.

Can't say i'm a huge fan of players able to pick which region to participate in. But then again, this is the only way to ensure taht the surviving Foreigners that make it through will be competitive to their KR counterparts. But yea... we could see Polt/Violet take two spot in NA and ForGG/Sage take spots in EU etc. LOL.
All KR WCS finals would mean some sick, close and great games (All KR), but then again what would be the difference between that and GSL/OSL.
Actually I take it back, MLG/NASL/ESL tournaments are already dominated by KR players. Hum......I guess since there is already a problem you can't count the same problem twice....

I have no idea what any of those things are.

That will happen if KR Master/Diamond players are that much better than NA GMs. I can totally see the KR teams sending their b-leaguers to another region for training/$ purposes but some of NA players can be competitive against the b-leaguers at least The europeans will be fine.

I can't waiting for all the raging when the top 10 NA spots are all taken by Koreans.

indeed
and it is the reason why i strongly feel that the prize money for the three different regions should NOT be the same, and should instead be scaled heavily towards the koreans

Ever since the Kespa/Blizzard fiasco, it would only be logical for blizzard to have complete control of its games at all times. Besides, this is a step in the right direction. eSF and Kespa and all the organizations should be running as one instead of separate entities.
