Fairly sure apollo will cast the ESL-WCS

By the way, did they release informations regarding who can play the qualifiers for the eu/na wcs ?

I think they said top 200 GM combined from EU/NA but that doesn't make a ton of sense so don't quote me.

Yeah they said the GMs would be invited to a qualifier

I heard combined somewhere and that's the part that doesn't make any sense.

They also said there would be open qualifiers like Code B.

I thought they just said it would be GM NA would participate in NA qualifiers and EU GMs in the EU qualifiers. SEA/CN/TW players would have to get GM NA/EU to play in those or try and qualify for GSL if I remember
but i guess they will probably release something more clear soon

But what if a Korean GM or EU GM etc. wants to play a different region? I'm thinking Korean to NA here, but so much is still up in the air. I could also see Sen trying NA, perhaps?

hmm I have no idea. Maybe they have to get NA GM before the qualifier date? or something else in place?

So a summary of the WCS holdings as I understand:

- The Korean, NA and EU SC2 scene will be united under the WCS banner as shown in the picture
- GSL/OSL, NA-GSL and EU-GSL contribute to the WCS point system, where the 16 highest ranked players will play to determine the WSC champion
- The three seasons will coincide with the tournaments. In Korea, GSL will be take place for two seasons (one running very soon and the one after summer), while OSL will be held in the summer as the point arbitrator
- Koreans and foreigners are not restricted by the regions, and can travel to every tournament to gain points.
- MLG and IEM are simultaneously independent of the WCS system, which allows Koreans and foreigners outside of their region to participate
- DreamHack, NASL, Iron Squid and other mid-tier tournaments will contribute to the point system, though at a lesser scale compared to the other regionals

I don't see how this can work in a fair system. Players who can go to these tournaments get to collect extra points. If someone who does worse in the main WCS events can get ahead of someone who's done better by collecting points at DH that the other player can't go to for some reason, that doesn't sound right.

Its going to be less points that the WCS events, so you can't just win those events.

What a joke. This sounds like a way for them to screw over a bunch of worthy Korean players so they can put in a bunch of undeserving NA and EU players into the championships. Then they're ruining the two most prestigious tournaments in the Starcraft scene, GSL and OSL, by turning them into qualifiers. I don't understand Blizzard's fascination with ruining their own games.

I cant see the NA-WCS being much of a draw though..unless the koreans switch over...
:/...the saddest part is I can see eSF and Kespa teams sending their bteamers over to NA-WCS and making NA-WCS some sort of training ground to get them into form.
If using baseball terms..
WCS-KR will be MLB
WCS-EU will become like Nippon Baseball League
WCS-NA will become AAA baseball.

Players in North America and Europe will be invited to kickoff Season 1 based upon their performances in 2012 across all leagues. Open qualifiers will also be held to determine the final player list. Additionally, the top 200 Grand Masters players on the StarCraft II Ladder will be invited to join the initial qualifiers.

They might want to deal with maphackers more actively if they want GM to have some kind of qualifying value in WCS.
They already had some problems last year with that, right?

I'm guessing you've always hated WCG then.
That's bsically what they've been doing since SC:BW.
And the koreans always took 1-3 except that one year where there was chinese uprising

The Korean players who can qualify via both EU and NA?

If anything it helps the Koreans, giving them more reasons to venture abroad without necessarily harming their future prospects

Affirmative action for bad players. I'm not interested in watching bad players play just because they're white.

I guess if that's the case then that's cool.
I figured ESL would go with their inhouse commentators similar to what people are saying of OGN. Nothing against Khaleris, Doa, and Monte Cristo (I rather like their casting), it's just that something this "hyped" should have the best of the best commentating IMO.

Agreed, especially now that WCS is run online before the finals.

If VODs are not free, SC2 will lose alot of viewers. People want to see the best Players and no one has the time to watch WCS Korea, if it starts at 0600 - 1100.

If using baseball terms..
WCS-KR will be MLB
WCS-EU will become like Nippon Baseball League
WCS-NA will become AAA baseball.

Kid, 99.9% here have never seen a Baseball Game and couldn't care less. Use football terms like Champions League, UEFA Cup etc...

This type of post is a fucking joke. READ the bloody thread, jesus.

Good for you, don't watch. At least we won't have to read your trash posts in LR threads
